Where did you hear this? They are usually all over the Mall. Is this just for the March?
Different areas of Washington are under the jurisdiction of different entities, and each has it’s own restrictions and permitting process. The National Mall is under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service. The area on either side surrounding the museums belongs to the Smithsonian Institution. The United States Capitol Police take care of permitting on the Capitol grounds. On most other streets you would be dealing with the District of Columbia government.
Want healthcare reform now? Well, the private sector has a solution and needs everyone to get on board by 9/12.

are) The socialist images, however, will be encouraged. You know the ones I’m talking

NO signs promoting violence or the like will be allowed. Same rule as above will apply.

Behavior during the rally:
Obey all LEO’s without question or hesitation.
Obey the directions of the security personnel and volunteers. They will be clearly identified.
Volunteers will be in lime green, security has yet to be decided.
Behave as if you were a guest in someone’s home.
We will present a positive image to the media which hopefully will be presented to the folks
across America who couldn’t make it.
(Remember, my mother will be watching on TV unless I can convince her to come with us.)
Interaction with potential counter-protesters, moonbats and assorted asshats/anarchists. (if
they show-up)
Maintain a safe zone.
Use the buddy system.
Have camcorders. VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE THEY WILL HAVE CAMCORDERS.
They will try to bait you. Don’t over-react.
DO NOT TOUCH any counter-protester or moonbat.
If you must argue with a moonbat, do so in a calm, reasoned and informed manner.
If you see a potential for trouble, find security or LEO and inform them.
If there is not time to get security or LEO’s, be prepared to get arrested if you react to the
disturbance and try to hande it on your own.
We do expect you to protect yourself and those around you, however.
Lastly, if you are not comfortable talking to media personnel, DON’T DO IT.
Get someone who’s good at it. Have a second person record any interview the media
conducts.
Keep a log of the interview: date, time, people involved and media outlet.

With the number of people we are going to have, there will certainly be astroturf opposition. Fanning the flames they start will turn this into a riot which is not what any of us want. This should be a peaceful protest. In case you haven’t noticed, they already have people posting on this site to stir us up. Don’t fall for it! Keep a cool head for everyone’s sake.

Michele, NO, don’t be concerned. I took my kids to a counter-protest. They loved it. These protests and counter-protests are peaceful. One in ‘07, had about 5-10 thousand moonbats to our 2,000 patriots. It was a blast. Some yelling and mocking but that’s what makes it great. Don’t be concerned for your safety.
The left has a few factions of young idiots calling themselves anarchists, like Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and Black Block, these marys that wear rags over their face so they don’t get in trouble when their mothers see them on TV. They’re kids and they’re all priveliged automatons, and trust me when I tell you that they’re not tough. One look into their eyes and they sh*t themselves. The good news, they’ll never have kids as they’re too tortured to love anything but Karl Mark and Che, and they’re dead.

Michelle, I have taken my 4 children to lots of protests & rallies, including DC. You and they will be safe. This is not the problem. BUT, make sure you have a plan on how you will deal with a lost child. You and the child need to know what to do and not panic.
It is important that your child understand that it is THEIR JOB to keep track of you, not the reverse!
I have also found that kids are very useful and resourceful at large events! They obtain food, find bathrooms, locate friends. Mine ran errands and earned money even! They also hawked albums for the musical entertainment.
The youngest child I brought was about 7-8, so if yours are younger you will have to decide if you think the child will get anything out of it. However, in retrospect, there will be an awful lot of grandmothers there!
Sigh, I miss them. I was the leader of the pack! THEY got old.

You could attempt to drive right up to the event – and then the police will tell you where to go! I’ve sort of actually done that. But as an alternative, maybe someone will call the DC Police today and post their answer here.
It’s not like a protest in DC has never happened before. Make sure you wear good walking shoes.
Mapquest/Google Pentagon Row. Plenty of parking, close to Pentagon City Metro.
Don’t use public transport. It’s subsidized by taxpayer money.
Take a cab. Oh don’t park on any public streets (taxpayer money). Make a statement and use a paid lot.
Don’t drive on teh streets as often as possible. Use dirt roads.
Oh don’t use a safety belt, turn off the airbag and dismantle anything in your car that helps to produce clean air and better fuel economy. Taxpayer money and the liberal agenda went into those things.
Don’t call the police or fire department if something happens to you. Taxpayer money.

So, am I wrong or are you are fine with paying taxes that will go into things needed by other people? Things you may never use. Things that help (or intend to help) keep this country educated, efficient, effective, healthy, safe and productive.
I give my share and more for over 32 years,and still giving! Where does it end? It doesn’t with this spending crowd we are stuck with (for now). Tax cuts to businesses and individuals who pay taxes will bring the economy back…not more taxes. It’s been proven. I’ve had enough…silent no longer.

France, Germany and Japan have recovered from the recession. There is a multitude of information on this. Not justr recovering but Recovered.

Jesus, You are the poster child for the Liberal battle strategy of “make the enemy feel guilty for being who they are”. I am proud of my taxpayer status and the fact that I helped you to enjoy some of the benefits of a free society with my tax dollars. I do resent my good tax dollars being wasted on “Don Quixote” type projects that will never help anyone except liberals to free the liberals of their guilty consciences. This money could have been used to feed the starving, the homeless, and the sick, but instead it is being used to build a thousand “bridges to nowhere” in the name of “STIMULUS”.

Japan went into a decade of no growth when they tried the same thing we are doing now. Many believe we are heading for a jobless recovery. You’ll also remember that the Europeans refused to follow Obama’s lead in a huge stimulus package. Besides, the French call a national strike everytime they get fed up with their wonderful system — riot in the streets, set cars on fire. Yep, Europe is a great example.
As for the Hitler signs, I agree with leaving them at home. I think Mussolinni would probably be more appropriate. After all, Hitler just confuses the idea. True, he was fascist. But that fact is obfuscated by the Holocaust. All the Progressives in the 30s thought Mussolini was great! He was their poster-boy for fascism. But that would probably be too subtle for our Liberal friends. Better to just confine our signs to something they can understand. We can make great points just the same. Anyway, my great grandfather left Italy to escape Mussolini’s reign of terror; only he did it legally and was a great proponent of America everyday that he lived. He tearfully stumbled through the Pledge of Allegiance-IN ENGLISH- every single morning when we put the flag up. I hope no one is waiting for 9/11 to contribute to their communities. Having a government endorsed day of service reminds me too much of the Soviet Union. When I lived there we had a Sabotnik – the official day of service where we had the opportunity to “volunteer” to clean streets, parks, harvest the food, etc. The patriots I know do not need a government sponsored day to contribute and volunteer in their communities. The patriots I know help homeless veterans, serve at the Food Bank, serve at the homeless shelter year, volunteer in schools year round.
I looked at the links for some of the speakers I had not heard of before and I think they have done a good job selecting speakers. I watched a few YOUTUBE links and the speakers were articulate with good content. Also, the closer it gets, I hear a lot more of my acquaintences planning to come.
I personally contribute monthly, as well, in many ways.
I don’t see what is wrong with encouraging people to participate though.

To Jesus and others: If you want to know why we’re not coming out of the recession faster, you only have to look at the top. Its Obama’s economy now, and no amount of saying “I inherited this mess”, will excuse him. I think without the so-called “stimulus”, we would already be ahead of those other countries, and in much better financial shape now, and for generations to come. Michele, NO, don’t be concerned. I took my kids to a counter-protest. They loved it. These protests and counter-protests are peaceful. One in ‘07, had about 5-10 thousand moonbats to our 2,000 patriots. It was a blast. Some yelling and mocking but that’s what makes it great. Don’t be concerned for your safety.

this news item from Aug 19 talks about the conservatives tea party on the 12th, and Robert Reich talks about a counter march on the 13, I don’t understand why this march demanding better health care is considered counter, was it just a bad choice of words? I thought all of these marches were FOR the people sick of being taxed to death with no choice in the matter, and no happy end in sight, can you give me a little insight? I read too fast sometimes and miss important things, it may just be me.

My husband and I are coming from New Mexico Will arrive on 9/11. Can anyone suggest a good hotel in a safe part of the city. Would sure appreciate it, It’s our first time in DC
Check out the Courtyard by Marriott in Alexandria, VA. Close to metro station and they had a $89/night AAA rate and free parking. If you aren’t driving and don’t need free parking you probably can get a hotel closer to DC, but if you have a car a lot of hotels charge a lot for parking. If you go to the travel logistics link, I think they have several hotels listed.
The Grand Hyatt downtown. Reasonably priced and the Metro change station is right beneath it. Its a great place!

Share Print CommentsWASHINGTON — A former top official for Voice of America was indicted Friday on corruption charges, accused of taking thousands of dollars in concert and sports tickets in exchange for favors to disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
Horace Cooper, who is also a one-time aide to former Republican House Majority Leader Dick Armey, is accused of defrauding the government after getting choice seats to see ‘N Sync, the Dixie Chicks, and Bruce Springsteen, among others.
The indictment charges Cooper agreed to use his position at Voice of America – and his subsequent job at the Labor Department – to advance the interests of Abramoff and his clients.
Abramoff was sentenced in September 2008 to four years in prison on charges of mail fraud, conspiracy and tax evasion. Since pleading guilty in 2006, the once-powerful lobbyist has cooperated with the federal investigation of influence-peddling in Washington.
The long-running corruption probe has led to the convictions of one former congressman – Republican Bob Ney of Ohio – and 16 others, including lobbyists, Bush administration officials, congressional staffers and businessmen.
Prosecutors say that between 2002 and 2004, Cooper received thousands of dollars worth of free meals or drinks at Abramoff’s restaurant, as well as a free Super Bowl party for him and about 25 friends.
The five-count indictment charges Cooper also took thousands of dollars worth of free entertainment, including tickets to professional baseball, hockey, basketball, and tennis events, as well as concert tickets.
Officials say Cooper did not report the gifts on government paperwork.
Cooper’s lawyer, Solomon Wisenberg, denied the charges.
“We are very disappointed that the Department of Justice has decided to go forward with these charges,” the lawyer said. “Horace Cooper is innocent and we look forward to our day in court.”
Cooper, 44, worked as chief of staff at Voice of America in 2002, before taking the same position at the Department of Labor’s Employment Standards Administration, where he worked until 2005.
In both positions, prosecutors charge, he used his official position to advance the private interests of the lobbyist Abramoff and his clients.
The indictment charges Cooper agreed to help Abramoff secure VOA funding for the lobbyist’s newly formed television production business, and assist an Abramoff client, a Mariana Islands garment manufacturer, with an investigation they were facing by the U.S. Department of Labor.
He is due in court next month on charges of fraudulent concealment, false statements, and one count of obstruction of an official proceeding. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of the most serious charge

Please hear me Glenn, I am 57years old with a wife and two grown children. I have pretty much had my head down for many years working my rut to raise my family. But now that I have done that and I now have a little time to lift my head and look around it seems everything I love about America is on the way out. I won’t have it!
All the questions that you have been asking Washington for weeks now have gone unanswered. I believe they will never be answered unless we force Obamas hand. I have heard a great deal about the actual march on D.C. but not so much about what we hope to accomplish. Sure I know its about liberty, freedom, the constitution and I am sure we will hear a lot of great speeches. But at the end of the day it ends there, we will have accomplished very little. No, we have this chance and maybe ONLY this chance to stand. I truly believe the coming march on D.C. should focus on getting ANSWERS to those questions! We need to send a single certified letter directly to Barack Obama to let him know the reason we are coming to Washington is to get those answers and we are not returning home until we get ‘em. Regardless if it takes days, weeks, months. If we can’t get answers now, we will never get them. And I truly believe this will be the beginning of the end for freedom in this country. We will have been out maneuvered.
How does a march this large stay focused on the job at hand? Who will stand that day to represent all that have come from so far and begin the call for answers? There is too much to lose. We need answers now! Please mention it on all your broadcasts, starting today, that the MAIN reason for this march is to get these questions answered! The people of this grand republic deserve to know now “WHO” is really in the White House.
