Follow the March on DC from Home
From FreedomWorks.org:
As thousands of grassroots activists descend on the nations capitol for the 9/12 March on DC, we’ve received hundreds of emails and phone calls from activists across the country who would like to attend, but for various reasons are unable to.
Understanding that not everyone can make it to DC, we have decided to put this page together, where activists from across the country can check in regularly for the latest news, photos, tweets, and video. Click here to follow.

I want to thank everyone who attended today, and though we all attended for a number of various reasons, we need to to make it clear that we all share a common goal, to fight the corruption of our government which has been spreading like a silent epedimic for sometime now. I do not use the term “fight” lightly, and do not refer to violence, but rather persitence in an effort to take back what we rightfully own.
We must understand that there will be those who will try to down play what has happened today, call some names, and try to stereotype us. But those of us who were there know that what happened today is authentic, they cannot label us, we are AMERICANS! We respect out president, but will not hesitate to call him out when he lies. We elected our representatives and senators officials and will stand behind them when represent out best interests, but we will not stand when they represent lobyists and the interests of their own.
Let us not become complacent or satisfied with our efforts, until we see REAL change. And then, let us not fall back in the old pattern of trusting our government to make decisions for us. The checks and balances of our governement has failed us now, we cannot make the same mistakes again, we cannot rest.
Your founding father Dick Armey represents lobyists? How do you rationalize that?
No one person started this movement, my founding fathers are Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, John Jay, James Madison, and Alexander Hamilton
Amen
You guys rock! I couldn’t come but it was so exciting to see the pictures and videos of the march, I am so proud to be an American and you guys are true Patriots. Thank you all for your commitment.
I sure am glad to know how angry, self-pitying white men feel. I wasn’t sure.
This comment is not worthy of a reply, there is no room for racism here. But since you bring it up, here goes…
Racism? If you want to talk about racism, lets bring Van Jones. And he is just one example, this is the kind of people that our president is surrounding himself with. Sure, he resigned ,but the White House still contends that he did nothing wrong.
Yes. Whatever you claim Jones said is much worse than people carrying pictures of Obama defaced to look like an African witch doctor. Because racism is always far more important when it is directed at Whitey.
“Sure, he resigned ,but the White House still contends that he did nothing wrong.”
Yes. They should have strung him up!
An African witch doctor!? Are you serious!? Everybody knows that was supposed to be a parody of the Joker from Batman! You know? The version that Heath Ledger played before he died?
Um, I know you’re much smarter than I am, Gwyn, but I know the difference. So shut the fuck up.
Gwyn, this racist is right.
You are smarter than him
On Racism
Ya know, I have a saying that I try to live by:
“I am a member of the Human Race, and NO other!
All the rest of that “Race” crap was created by Racists for Racists.
Period!”
The powers that be use “Race” to keep us distracted, fighting with each other over
whether it’s “fair” that someone has $100.00 more than someone else. All this while
they steal Billion$, no wait, now, it’s Trillion$. We are fools.
We are the Human Race consisting of individuals, nothing else.
Every living soul is a minority of one.
When I see a Human Being, I know that I am looking at an atom in the body of God
that is uniquely beautiful and was created for a special purpose. Never again will
there be another expression of a life force on Earth that gets to experience the
“All THAT IS” in the same exact manner.
No one will ever bring the souls of my children into this world again, with all their
uniqueness, beauty, laughter and love of life.
No one will ever ski the same trail, go flying over a creek bed to plunge into the
same snow bank on the other side and then hear the hysterical laughter of good
friends, as the snow bank collapses on their head, as in a cartoon.
No one will ever have a first love in high school with same beautiful soul mate.
No one will ever attend the Ozark Music Festival with the same friends in 1974
during 3 days of “nothing but fun and music” in 105 degree temperatures.
And no one will lend a small hand axe to someone, who passed it to someone,
who passed it to someone else to build shelters and create shade from the
blistering heat. And 3 days latter no one will stand up and yell during a break
between bands, ”Hey, who’s got my axe?”, and watch in amazement as my
message is passed along through the crowd of 150,000 and my axe comes
back to me. I still have that axe.
No one will create the same original music with the same friends and share the
same dreams of becoming a “Rock Star” And no one should ever have to experience
the dismay when the recordings they worked on for months, were stolen along with
the recording equipment by a drugged out thief. And no one has realized until now,
that through all those recording sessions with people from all over the world that
they never once classified them in any way but the quality of musician they were along
with what instruments they played.
Skin color can’t be picked up by a microphone.
Music transcends all pretentions of “race.”
Maybe that’s why music has been such a big part of my life.
No one will ever love my wife with a greater depth of appreciation of her
contribution to my life and the lives of our children and our friends.
No one will stand on my grave and wonder just what kind of a man was my father?
No one.
Ever.
As to what experiences may have shaped Barrack Obama’s perceived
embrace of a race driven paradigm, I cannot say.
For I have never noticed.
This is no a racisit issue, It is a issue of are freedom of americans. Its not a black, white, green, or a purple. In my opinion sir i thank ur the on with the racsit issue and thats all obamas election was based on was colar and u people didnt take the time to listen to his agenda or lies. I was at the protest in d.c and the best sign i seen was a african american woman hold a sign with a picture of Martin Luther King jr. on it and obama with a say of “We had a dream but we got a nightmare” , and that right there speaks for its self sir.
Are you a fucking idiot?
MoreRacismPlease
You are truly representing your intelligence, and point, in a positive manner with your eloquent words! Please do America a favor and get an education.
youre right. I am NOT an obama fan but signs like the one you describe are just plain stupid.
that kind of crap is NOT what this is about.
Exactly that’s the whole point i was trying to make, but apperently you can’t comprehend i wish i had a picture of the woman, and her sign then you can better understand what i was trying to say. It was a black women holding that sign. MY point was that this isn’t a racist thing, and that there were african american people there to express there dislike of obama thank you very much.
What exactly did Van Jones do wrong besodes being demonized by Faux news? He was a communist? So what. he said republicans are assholes? I thought you liked when people told the truth. He grew up as a black man in a racist white world and is/was therefore suspicious of white people in power? I’m white and I’m suspicious of the motives of the whites in power. He signed a petition that wanted 9/11 looked at closely? big deal.
Psst! Your communism is showing.
“He was a communist? So what?!?!” Aren’t you supposed to be from the bleeding heart camp where millions being killed to protect the various “Peoples’ Government” from dying is sickening?
Van Jones former firm exposed Becks racism causing him to lose 37 advertisers. And they get their marching orders from Beck…and they idolize him .
Not Here,
OK so his/her comment is not worth a reply, but….you like… replied. And then your reply was longer than the comment that wasn’t worth a reply to begin with. Shouldn’t you feel kinda’ stupid right about now???
I was thinking the same thing.
Your comments are so brilliant…We’re simply not worthy. How about adding something worthwhile to the discussion.
Why do you assume that to be the motivation?
Oppression has existed from the very beginning, until even now, with “social programs”, which are engineered by the Democrats (and some RINO Republicans); for one purpose and one purpose only; and that is to CONTROL and KEEP DOWN the oppressed in this country. And they who OPPRESS are those who PROMOTE HATE.
WE ARE PROMOTING PEACE AND PROSPERITY (not socialism which is rationing and controlling perceived wealth); FOR ALL…
WE ARE BLESSED AS A NATION AND GOD WILL NOT BE DENIED.
You know, if you want to know why most of us think you people are lunatics, read the post above. God will not be denied? What does that mean? God doesn’t want universal health coverage?
Listen, if you want to abdicate your responsibility for your life and decisions to some imaginary superhero, good for you. But to insist that everyone should share your whims and desires because you say God says so, well, that’s the kind of nonsense that the Founding Fathers you’re constantly citing specifically tried to avoid.
Keep telling yourself that you’re right, and that some sort of racist theocracy is “True Democracy,” and the rest of us will go on living in the real world.
Moreracismplease:
You really need to get some new stuff, to gripe about; this racism crap is just old and tired.
OR, to say it another way… On January 20,2009 your racism card ran out…
Thank you for that comment denise about ur rascism card ran out on january 20, 2009. That should be a true statement but i think that its gotten worse especially with in the black community towards the white man. Just take it like this they will never be satisfied, they will always find something to whine about. Until everyone of them are kings dont expect there whining to stop. Even thought they can get what the want and can work for it they still want a free hand out.
I thank this guy is van jones
They do not feel that way….whites are not oppressing the minorities, they are victimizing themselves all for a pity party. People out there love their country and do not expect a handout….unlike some people!
I have never heard any group whine so incessantly about being victimized as you teabaggers.
Run you little coward. Run run run. Sling your arrows all you like. If you were not worried about your progressive thugs losing ground forever and becoming a footnote in history you would be silent. You would find no need to play the race card or post your nasty name calling and foul language. That only show you to be afraid, out of valid arguments and of small mind.
Below is what our founding fathers established as an official policy/law of the Federal Government on religion and free speech. As you can clearly see, it says the government shall not establish an official religion. England had The Church of England as its official and only legal religion. Which made it illegal to be say a Protestant.
They wanted to be free to practice whatever faith they chose. Which is where the phrase “or prohibiting the free exercise thereof” comes in. This also means, that those who do not believe in God may not pass any laws stopping those that do.
It is clear when one reads the constitution and the first 10 amendments (AKA the Bill of Rights) that they believed in God. They came from many denominations. God is mentioned time and again.
The Ten Commandments are a good guide to being a good neighbor and citizen, whether you believe in God or not, which personally, for the record, I do not. But I don not have the constitutional grounds to stop others from believing and the same amendment keeps them from forcing me believe.
The only time I object someones beliefs is when they say “If you are not one of us, you must die” and that includes those that say abandon God or die. I have news for those folks, you will die first because I will not lay down for you.
I advise all who seek to eradicate God from America to be very careful of breaching the first amendment. If you lose, and poll after poll shows American is overwhemlingly religious to a degree, you may find yourself forced to practice a religion.
Now, I know thinking that last bit all the way through is hard for progressives to do. Thinking through to the unintended consequences is not a leftists strong suit. That may be because they have always used the crutch that if they only had more control, their plans and programs would not be such failures.
So run you little coward. Post your garbage all you like. The more you post, the more you expose what a coward you really are.
Sounds like the only racist I see here is you. Obviously, you are the angry one. But your anger and ours is completely different.
By your reply to the “Not Here” letter posted, you sealed the deal on exactly WHO and WHAT you are, in your own words, and I quote: “Whitey”‘ ???
Are you KIDDING me?
lol.. I am no racist, but I certainly recognize those who ARE. Reverend Wright ring a bell? Van Jones, who just TWO years ago proclaimed himself to be a communist. Oh, and another racist…. obviously..you.
Look.. all we Americans want is freedom from TOO much government… the way our forefathers intended. It has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with racism. The fact that you have called tens of thousands of people racist is absurd. In fact, there were people of ALL races and religions there.
You really need anger management.
Amen…But they don’t consider conservative blacks “real” blacks. You don’t get it…We’re on your side. The white man is still keeping you down only now it’s thorugh the government policy that we’re here fighting against. I’ll take the likes Congressman JC Watts, Dr. Thomas Sowell, Dr. Walter Williams, Dr. Allen Keyes, or any number of others over Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid or any white progressive liberal anyday.
Lynn — I know you know everything. But you have as little idea about my race as about what real oppression is. I’m still waiting to hear one of you begin to explain in what way anything that has been proposed takes one drop of liberty from anyone, except in the form of blatant lies and paranoid hypothesizing.
Too much government. Except for police and the military, right? Where were you when the Patriot Act was passed, or when the previous administration insisted on the first “pre-emptive” invasion in the history of this country?
That’s right. Those were brown people and Muslims getting wiped off the map. Er, I mean, terrorist. So that makes it OK.
Why in the world are you at this website? Don’t you have somebody at home to bitch at? Or… go to MoveOn.org or some other liberal site. Your need to stir things up is patheric
typo… that’s pathetic
Yes. The only people who should come here and comment are those who all think exactly alike and spend their time whipping each other into a paranoid frenzy with their bleating about fascism and communism without even understanding the difference.
So shut your holes.
It must suck to be you…
So i guess those terriost or muslims were aloud to fly into 3 building killing thosands of americans. SO more rascim it was okay for thousands of americans to die, and bush wasnt suppose to do anything about it. Ur a lunatic u need to get a life sir and learn what america is about. Ur a disgrace to this american soil, go back to were your from may it be africa or afgahanistan, someone needs to stump a mud hole in ur ass.
You obviously are drinking the koolaid … Just as Obama wants you to. He is socially/racially dividing our country, impoverishing it, and destroying our Constitution. Then we introduces “rescues” from the government … presto … he becomes dictator of the United Socialist of America. Please realize what you are doing and become a patriot instead of a inflammatory opportunist.
Wow. You’ve got it all figured out. Your deductive abilities are particularly amazing, since there has been absolutely no evidence that one thing you’ve said is true. He has not introduced any sort of gun-control legislation, raised your taxes (unless you’re very wealthy, which I doubt), or done anything else that you fucking nutbags allege.
But you’re a patriot, so you must be right.
I’m sorry a black man being elected president (by a larger majority than the great statesman, George W. Bush, ever enjoyed) hurts you so. Better get used to being part of a shrinking minority.
MoreRacismPlease – You are the only racist I see here. I pity you. You just can’t stand it when so many people disagree with you that you resort to profanity and name calling. Open your eyes and your mind, and learn to think for yourself.
Actually, Kate, I was resorting to profanity and name-calling before anyone here disagreed with me. And, regardless of the bullshit claims you people make about being some sort of majority, if that were true, you are increasingly irrelevant. I’m just trying to make sure you know that.
By the way, I hope you boys remember to wipe up all the ejaculate left after masturbating each other on the streets of the nation’s capitol. Because that’s all you accomplished.
The meaner you are the more ignorant we know you are. NO clue as to what you have and what you stand to lose!
Boy, God and patriotism in one alias! Everything you say must automatically be right!
Well aren’t you the classy one. Your mother must be sooooo proud!
No, but your mother loooooves me. Again and again.
What a brilliant statement. You’ve shown your true colors (oh geez…I hope that’s not taken as being racist).
If you’re a representation of the intellectual and moral elite in this country, then I’ll be an ignorant sycophant. Cheers!
Well said.
Yes. I think you’re full of self-important crap, so I must be part of some group — ”the intellectual and moral elite” — that you disdain.
I understand that it must be very difficult for you to accept that your belief system is part of a shrinking minority that is in the process of being consigned to history’s scrap heap. So keep fantasizing about battling against dictators, and believing the oppression fantasies your media heroes feed you.
God will not be denied.
Oh, God loves racism. And he hates it when people get adequate access to health care.
Surely this march had a huge effect on the liberals or they wouldn’t be her posting their little nasties the way jealous children do.All they ever could accomplish with their protesting is acting like idiots, they NEVER were able to do anything be make a lot of noise. Sarah Palin bringing about the death panels in one single swoop had the liberals going nuts. They’re not use to seeing so many True Americans take charge and they know they cannot stop us. There is nothing Obama, Pelosi, or ones on this blog can do to stop us from voicing our concerns and taking a stand for OUR country. Look at the vile sexual postings and you know this was left by a teenager or immature adult.
There are no such people advising the President to suggest “death panels”! Where do you get such nonsense? Whats that? You say, “Ezekiel Emanuel, the President’s Science Czar published papers laying out how the Hypocratic Oath is the heart of the health care crisis and only by determining which peoples’ potential contribution to society is worthy of health care will they recieve such care?”

http://www.wizbangblog.com/content/2009/07/26/ezekiel-emanuel-deny-coverage-to-elderly-and-disabled-for-the-greater-good.php
Oh…well…umm….
The Dems could not get that many people to show up even when they are paying them to.
What do you mean “True Americans” are you so ignorant to claim that liberals are not “True Americans”?
There are no sides, every citizen in this country is a “True American” until you can learn this you are just as immature as those people you were complaining about.
You put that very aptly. Sarah Palin did help “bring about” the death panels. Because it’s a complete fabrication, not even hinted at anywhere in any proposed bill. But because you geniuses believe her, that makes it true.
And I love how you true Americans can prattle on and on about losing your freedom (freedom to not have a black president), but when someone responds, they’re “whining.”
Fuck you in the eye.
I’m saddened by your arrogance. We are all Americans, but with bile such as you spew, it only widens the gap between people that should be working together to make sure our great nation continues to be prosperous for future generations.
Obama is our president. How do you think that happened? Kudos for the grassroots organizing yesterday. Doesn’t community organizing ROCK? Why do you keep capitalizing true Americans? I watched the whole march on CSPAN and saw very little diversity in that crowd. Many of the speakers seemed to contradict themselves. I would have more respect for your supporters if they were attacking policy with facts and left God and race out of the argument.
Seems to me the left are the only ones continuously injecting race into this.
Rodchester, I could not agree with you more. See, they love to ‘infiltrate’ what they believe is an educated and more conservative website, and innundate it with their nasty rhetoric. It’s the only
way they know how to communicate. If they couldn’t namecall, they would have about 90% less to say.
Thank you, MoreRacismPlease, for discrediting anything you had to contribute with your vulgar and yes, racist, diatribe.
Funny how when the protests come from your camp, its “protected by the Constitution”. Of course, there were no defacing posters of the President over the last eight years, were there? Zero respect for those who can dish it out but can’t take it.
2.5 mil.
The crown went from the capitol and stretched all the way to the national monument.
“Can you hear us now?”
crowd*
I’m just so psyched about the experience. I’ve never been amongst so many wonderful people. No cursing, no fighting, no hostility. Everyone with a simple message: ENOUGH! Thank you everyone who attended. And for the trolls who descended on this blog while we were away: UP YOURS!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
sucks that so many people would rather toss around racist hate at each other when really important things need doing, especially since we’re not as different as Fox and CNN would have us believe. More Racism Please? What makes you think that Mr. Obama is anything different than Mr. Bush? You have to look with better eyes than that, for your own sake. Please. He’s the head of Sales for Wall Street, just like the last guy, and the guy before that, and the guy,…get it? Cryptoeugenics. Predatory banking. Enabling politicians. Enabling race baiters ON BOTH SIDES. Look.
More Racism Please is full of hate and wants to be oppressed, the victim role. I do not think logical conversation is possible. We know what we stand to lose!
Without fostering hate and divisiveness, they have nothing.
Hey evette, it was truly awesome wasn’t it. Having to start the march early because the crowds were overflowing and halting traffic all around Freedom plaza. We were watching it grow from our hotel room and could see long lines of people coming from each direction, absolutely amazing! We ended up being so far behind we ended up around the pool outside Capitol area lawn. And the crowd behind us was still flooding in all along the mall. Everyone was having a good time and no problems around that we could see. We couldn’t find the porta potties due to crowd size but the American Indian Museum let everyone (long lines) in with no problem. It wasn’t a surprise that the president hightailed it outof town but the chopper came in when still large crowd. Had to laugh when Gibbs said they knew nothing about it. Can they ever tell the truth? A big thank you to everyone who attended and put house and senate on notice that they better start representing us, We The People.
I couldn’t come but prayed for a peaceful and safe time for all who did attend.
Well Evette, it’s such a shame that you could go from such a great experience with NO violence, no hostility and no fighting and post a great comment here, only to be met with hostility, cursing and (if they could get to us) violence. God bless America, OUR America, THE AMERICA THAT HAS LASTED FOR 200+ YRS!! (and will continue to be)
Evette — I see you can count as well as you can spell!
It is too bad that the National Staterun Media did’t televise the March. It takes Fox (not FAUX) news to report the truth in a fair and balanced. Imagine if all the state run media reported the news the way they ought to.
Oh please, as if liberals never defaced images of George Bush.
I hate to break it to you liberals, but race isn’t a factor in the tea party protests. You use it as an excuse – no matter what criticism someone has for Obama’s actions, it’s racism. You use that lame excuse so much it is official stale.
Or maybe all of us white hillbillies are pissed because all the Hollywood movies that have black presidents or leaders always show a black president who is tough, strong, a great leader and a force to be reckoned with, and instead we got this socialist dope who looks good but is throwing our constitution and country under the bus.
We want James Earl Jones and you dopes elected Milli. Or Vanilli. Sigh.
Race isn’t a factor. That must be why you see so many blacks, hispanics and asians in the crowd. Or maybe they’re just not true Americans, eh?
Your identifying race and identify other races who do not participate in our effort as excluded which is a lie you are perpetrating.
You are a divider, not a unifier.
Blessed are the peace makers, for they shall inherit the Kingdom of God.
Why don’t these people feel inspired or comfortable enough to participate?
Can you make a point about anything without citing God? Jesus Christ …
They were there….just most AA are dems for some reason thinking that they left is going to help them. How has that worked out for the last 50 years? Got any help yet?
I appreciate the honest racism you spew. Precisely why we get to make the argument that the fear and outrage shown on the right has very little to do with policy and lots to do with the fact that the POTUS is black. It is all so amusing to listen to and read comments by people who are so ignorant they don’t even have the filter to censor their racism. Be outraged because the government is spending too much and wants to raise your taxes. Be outraged because you feel like your gun rights are going to be stripped away. Be outraged because your family values are being challenged. The second you mention race and make silly comments like the ones above, I stop listening.
You’re correct. We’re just so ignorant and stupid that we don’t even know that we’re racists. We need you to enlighten us. We ARE outraged for exactly the reasons you expressed. Welcome to our side:).
We drove down from NYC Friday to be part of the march, and just got home now. We met many patriots today, and these were not angry and bitter people. They were happy and positive and full of a conviction that together, we can help guide America back to a republic which values personal liberty, exercises enumerated powers, and promotes economic prosperity.
word.
Good Morning Americans, fellow Patriots. We have much work to do. Let us organize locally, at the State level, and nationally like we did yesterday. We will grow. We will stop the destruction of our constitution. We must replace the Presidency and Congress with men and women who will not usurp the power and authority they have been given. We will remove all the political puppets, the lies, the arrogance, and the laziness.
Americans, Patriots, friends, we must go forward and defend our Constitutional rights and heritage. Now is the time. We must persist . . .
Man, where were you for the last 8 years when the American Constitution really -was- under attack?
Kevin, don’t you see — it’s OK to gut the Constitution, so long as “true Americans” (i.e. white folk) are doing it.
Your identifying race and identify other races who do not participate in our effort as excluded which is a lie you are perpetrating.
We were right here. I didn’t vote for Bush or his father. We’re probably not that far apart if you would just listen to what we’re trying to do.
Could someone please identify what rights in the Constituiont Obama is denying and where he is shredding the Constitution instead of just runniing off at the mouth that he is?
It’s not just Obama…It’s been going on for the last 100 years (Republicans and Democrats). The Constitution is very specific in what the Federal Government can do. And the Federalist papers are there to back up exactly what they meant. A couple sentences have been taken out of context, without referring to their original intent, to give the government much broader power than was ever intended.
So what third party do you belong to?
The Constitution Party…Thanks for asking. There are several good third parties. I think some will combine to create a formidalble truly conservative opponent and that eventually, the Republicans and Democrats should just combine as a centrist party since they seem to represent the same bsaic principles with only a few notable exceptions. Fianlly, the far left/progressives should form their own party. They could call it the Socialist or Communist party, but that’s just a couple names that come to mind.
You should try the Guns and Dope party it’s all about freedom and anti-czar and has been around for many years.
Google it… seriously. It’s by a well known Libertarian.
That is a frivolous fringe group. Why don’t you contribute to the discussion or is that the extent of your thoughts? All the left does is attack, call names, and generally try to shut down discussion. That’s why most liberal talk radio doesn’t work. There’s no substance.
Haha, actually no, it’s by a hilarious and brilliant writer who is indeed a libertarian.
He’s dead now but still has a cult following. You can learn a lot and have a good time doing it if you look into Robert Anton Wilson.
I was just trying to lighten the mood. Sorry grouchy pants.
Morning Chris!!!
I tried to search for a jersey crowd to find you….
It was kinda hard to search through the “500″ hundred people that MSNBC reported showed up. You know this crowd.
ARGH
Can anyone name one Congressman (women) who is true to the Cause of Liberty, who lives what they swore to defend our Constitution, who speaks out against Obama, the lies, the flattery, who is a true Patriot?
How shameful our government is!
The only name that comes to mind is Joe Wilson, lets see if he keeps it up or if he caves to the dems.
I’d like to add Sarah Palin, who by the way, cleaned out the crooked REPUBLICANS FIRST!!
We need to take back our country. And I sure hope Wilson doesn’t give in. Hell, I yell “LIAR” at my TV EVERY time I see obama on it, (which is EVERY day) and I refuse to apologize!
Perhaps Joe Wilson? Hmm, who else………Nope can’t think of any.
Geoff Davis my congressman from N Kentucky lives what he swore, who speaks out against oppressors, the liars, and who is a true Patriot?
I’ve been watching the chat on this site for several weeks. Their knowledge of the world is limited to what they hear on talk radio and Fox news. As you can imagine their view is quite distorted.
Many visitors have attempted to present them with the facts and they discount them as “liberal lies, socialism, communism, and fascism.” All visitors ask, “where have you been for the last 8 years?” No one can answer. The reason being, they have no clue what’s been happening in the country because their only source of information is Fox news and talk radio.
If you’d like to see their hope for the future, take a look at this.

Wow – What a mis-informed comment. I guess you really don’t get out much hmmm??? Have you listened to Glenn Beck even ONCE? How about Ron Paul? How about… Nevermind… I can go on and on and give you exact quotes and source material of Glenn, Ron, Tom, etc. who were calling out Busch on all his crap for the past number of years.
So “where were you people” – There’s your answer! Have you seen the long list of supporters Ron had when he campaigned against Bush trampling on our freedom after 9/11? Letters, emails, call ins, fax blasts in the tens of thousands in a SINGLE day!
Same when Bush pushed the bailout funds! I and over a dozen of my friends were actively involved in campaigning against this nonsense… There were more than 1,500 of us just in this one small town!
So why don’t you go get yourself educated first, instead of commenting on something you know so little about. Did you go and research and ask the 300 million residents of this country how many took action against Bush? Oh you didn’t? Then I guess that equates to you just talking out your…
There are 3 major organizations that were growing by the thousands each month rallying against Bush’s actions that I was personally involved in. So where were we? Right here taking action… How about you?
Ok, so YOU must listen to Fox also, and listen to the radio. OR… you are just full of bull and imagining what they are saying. Or do you get your news from the same guy you get your Kool Aid from?
Or YOU all say
“Glenn Beck says…”
“Rush Limbaugh says…”
“Fox News says…”
“Michelle Malkin says…”
“Ann Coulter says…”
“Sean Hannity says…”
and THAT is how we all know where you get your “news” and “facts”. Plus all of the conspiracy theories that you so desperately cling to because something presented to you was taken out of context or somebody said something 20 years ago.
You are pathetic and an embarassment to this great country. People like you are teh reason the rest of teh world hates us or things we are so backwards. The LOUD MINORITY that is you and your powerful right-wing media empire.
If you’d like to see their hope for the future, take a look at this.
http://www.teapartynextstep.com/page1.php
Do you believe that we would get news from NBC or CBS or ABC? Don’t you love how they gave the american people the “truth” about van jones and especially all their coverage on how Acorn was promoting tax fraud, underage child sex abuse, fraud and prostitution? Oh that’s right they DIDN’T. I guess if the news sheds any negative attention on Obama, it doesn’t qualify as real news, hence the omama spin cycle. No thanks those networks are for people too stupid to think for themselves and need the spoon feed news that those other networks supply. Garbage in and garbage out.
So there are only 2 choices ‘Liberal Media’ and ‘Conservative Media’ I don’t like to listen to the media because all of them have slants, I simply read the news from unbiased sources and form my own opinions.
I consider myself conservative but the Republican Party is NOT holding up conservative values at the moment, they are holding up Republican values, George Bush violated our civil liberties and all the conservatives were behind him, Obama hasn’t done anything NEARLY as what Bush did over his 8 years in office so far, and already the conservatives are marching in the streets?
Please leave a link to these “unbiased” news sources. They’re very difficult to find so, what we do is read everything we can and then sort through the “slanted facts” to discern the truth.
Fox News is the MOST Successful news source because they do attempt to air both sides. Had you been watching Fox (and select conservative talk radio shows) during the Bush years you would have seen and heard strong objection to the absence of a “VETO PEN”, unsecured borders, and the BUSH corporate welfare handout. I don’t suppose that Obama spending more money in his 1st 6 months (than in the previous 200+ years of our existence) is worth commenting about.
I agree that NEITHER party is serving the country… they are all self-serving hypocrites (with a few exceptions from BOTH PARTIES). We are marching in the streets because our voices are not heard in DC!
TF, that’s one of the most intelligents letters I have read here in a while.
r u even serious??? BHO is the worst of them all…and I do not even think he loves this country. You are a great example of denial in America. When you wake up and realize that has happened I pray it is not too late.
Its not about Republican vs. Democrat anymore. The Republicans are taking us down the same road, albeit a little slower.
I’ve been in a third party for my entire voting life. I never picked from the two main parties because I always saw the powersharing deal they had to keep any third parties out.
It’s always been about the Republicans and the Democrats and it will be until a third party can break in successfully.
I’ve been working at it for a lonnnnnnng time. How long have you even thought about it? Since Obama got elected? That’s what I am betting for most of you people now considering a third party.
I’ve been either an independent or in a third party most of my life too.
Good for you. I mean it.
We need more parties in there to keep everyone as honest as possible.
I have extreme changes in my ming not part of any parties agendas.
Structural and technological changes that I believe can fundamentally change the way our government works for the people. I believe we must pursue great vision to advance society into the unknown future if we want to be proud of our country and be world leaders.
Unfortunately, I cannot share them until I have a detailed plan figured out.
For now, I stick with breaking the two party power structure.

I don’t care where you get your news. But if you’re going to be outraged, be consistent. Conservatives weren’t freaking out when W was in office and violating civil liberties. This is why it is hard for people to believe that the fear of your America being stripped away isn’t racially motivated.
Sorry to inform you, but most of us were also outraged at the Bush Administration’s disregard for the constitution and their wild spending, which pales in comparison to this administration. What you don;t seem to understand, is that this is not something that has happened all of a sudden…Our constitution has been being shredded for over 100 years, beginning with Roosevelt (a Republican). This President has simply been the ligntning rod that to finally get conservatives (Note…Not Republicans) to finally say enough is enough. Like it or not, this is a conservative country. Most Democrats are conservative by nearly any measure. We are also not racist. If anything, progressives are racist. Unfortunately, blacks went from being the slaves of the white man to being the slaves of progressive liberal policies. I gurantee that no black that was at any of the rallies yesterday felt one ounce of racism. We’re all Americans and welcome anybody that wants to help restore this country to the principles of our Founding Fathers. The biggest this we need is to throw nearly everyone in Congress out and them impose term limits.
That’s when you were the silent majority I guess then. You just let the liberals do all the protesting and sat on your fat asses while we marched and marched and marched.
No you weren’t silent. You were calling us traitors. You were calling us terrorist lovers. Youw ere calling us unamerican and you were telling us to leave the country.
Now, you are the loud minority, calling us the fake americans and telling us to leave the country because the elected President is fulfilling his campaign promises.
You were the loud minority calling Obama a secret muslim and comlaining about some birth certificate crap.
You can deny it all you want but this was my direct experience.
If you dont like what you read here, then there is a simple solution, dont visit the site, and dont read the postings….
Since there are so many left leaning postings here lets get some things straight.
1) News outlets: People watch fox news because it reports the news, unlike the state run media that skews the facts based on political interests. Talk radio is great to listen to but is not a news outlet, and is opinon based by design.
2)The last 8 years?: Most here have been part of the silent majority for the last eight years. We know what has been going on in the country for the last eight years, and are not satisfied in the direction.
Instead of acusing people of not knowing what is going on, maybe you should pull your head out of your @ss and stop drinking the Obama fool-aid long enough to see what is happening in the world around you.
You do not represent the majority. The majority of Americans support President Obama. That’s why he’s President.
ma⋅jor⋅i⋅ty [muh-jawr-i-tee, -jor-]
–noun, plural -ties.
1. the greater part or number; the number larger than half the total (opposed to minority ): the majority of the population.
2. a number of voters or votes, jurors, or others in agreement, constituting more than half of the total number.
3. the amount by which the greater number, as of votes, surpasses the remainder (distinguished from plurality ).
4. the party or faction with the majority vote: The Democratic party is the majority.
Yep, you are right. Thats why his poll numbers are so high right now. Thanks for setting us straight.
Yes, Mike. Polls are everything. By that standard, your man Bush should have been run out of D.C. on a rail three years before the end of his last term.
We come to these sites so we can get a balanced perspective. I’m not going to criticize the other side unless I actually know what they believe.
AND????? What is your point to posting that link exactly?
But seriously, folks, congratulations on your “huge turnout.” Sixty to 70,000 people — that’s almost as many people as will fill each of 16 National Football League Stadiums and at least 50 more college arenas this weekend! So there are almost as many of you as there are fans of the Seattle Seahawks.
Of course, that estimate came from the known communists (or is it fascists) in the Washington D.C. fire department.
What is the percentage of posts on this forum that represent you sentiments?
2.5 mil
And you’re either off the front page or buried on every major news outlet I checked this morning (except the fair and balanced people at Fox). Maybe having some details backing your vague claims of oppression and hypothetical fantasies would be more effective than raving on and on about how poor people getting health insurance would strip you of your liberty and freedom and liberty.
So on to the next thing. Are you ready for some football?
Thank you MoreRacismPlease, your postings are the most racist, vulgar, and childish that i have read on this board. Your represent your political group well….
Fuck you, Mike.
How many people are descending on Washington in support of your views? Oh yea NONE!
Everyone there had their own reasons for being there, bottom line is, we the people are sick of out of control government ruining our country, be it democrats or republican, GREAT JOB to the REAL Americans! Now we need to keep the pressure on, and understand that the fight has just began!
For those who call this racism, YOU are the ignorant racist FOOLS who need a reality check!!!! This is why this country has a hard time uniting, you are either with us or against us…
To Washington and Wall Street:
The time is now, time to wake up. Our jobs have all been shipped overseas, our retirement has been wiped out, our home values have plummeted, Fuel prices have doubled in 5 years, food prices have doubled in 5 years, utility rates are skyrocketing, bank fees are up, insurance rates are up, all while our paycheck has shrunk. The American people are under assault from corporations and the government corpocracy. You think you no longer need the American People, you now have the whole world to pillage thanks to free trade agreements. CEOs making 316 times the average wage, government bailing out big banks while people loose their jobs, homes, health insurance, retirement, and families. Big business getting everything they want from government while people suffer. You take your profits and distribute them amongst yourselves, instead of investing them into upgrading your equipment, and infrastructure, then raise fees to pay for necessary upgrades. You are fleecing the whole country. $2000 Fines for denying an energy audit, $3800 fines for not having health insurance. Censored free speech. Out of control government spending. You are stripping us into a nation of poverty! WASHINGTON, WALL STREET, LEAVE US ALONE! THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WILL FIGHT FOR OUR FREEDOM! WE HAVE FOUGHT FOR EVERYONE ELSES FREEDOM, WHAT MAKES YOU THINK WE WON’T FIGHT FOR OUR OWN!
The American People
Amen!
This is not a “party” issue. It’s us (the American people) against them (out of control progressive government and their corporate special interests).
Posts like this make me think there’s racism:

For sure man, just like all is lost when Team Obama, organizing for america labels concerned taxpaying citizens, RIGHT WING EXTREMIST DOMESTIC TERRORISTS. They want to turn 9/11 into a day they call, call-a-thon. Call eveybody and stop the fanatics and their PROPAGANDA news show Fox from fighting the Health care bill. Obama calls for a day of service and the service is for him. Wow what a man. Forget the fallen heros of 9/11 make some calls and push my health care through. MY health care, not the american peoples. Beck was right, Obama and Van Jones and Diane Watson and Shirley Jackson Lee are all RACISTS. Just tell it like it is because everybody knows it and they sure as hell don’t try to hide it anymore.

“U.S. of K.K.K.” – Rev. Jeremiah Wright (Mentor to Barack Obama)

At least now we all heard it with our own ears. Green Czar Van Jones, self proclaimed Communist is a RACIST. He blames the white man for poisioning the Black man with bad soil and is now an expert on Agricuture. He’s funny when he talks with a little lisp. Eddie Murphy would be hoot playing him in the movie version of Barak Obama.

Come to think of it, if abortion had been legal in the early ’60’s, would Obama have been born? Wasn’t he basically abandoned by his mother and raised by his maternal grandparents? He should be the poster child for unwanted pregnancies.

That really makes me chuckle. Obama is not black. He is half white. Of the other fifty percent he is mostly african arab. He only has about 10% black african in him.
Regardless of his color or ethnicity, I am offended by someone who apologizes to muslim states about how America has been. Someone who bows to the king of Saudi Arabia but disses the Queen and Prime Minister of England, our oldest allies

Another thing, post american, If you think Obama’s color had anything to do with conservatives not accepting him, you are clueless. I wish it was that simple. Never mind the fact that 95% of blacks voted for him, no racism there!! If it wasn’t for the stupid, misinformed whites he would never had made it. Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers!
We will prevail, you stupid f*****g n****r!!
While it is disturbing that there are posts containing racism, this is an unmoderated message board and we can always control what people say. These comments do not represent the people who are part of this movement. As with any movement, there will be extremist nut jobs that only hurt the movement, but as we move foward and new leaders emerge, we will focus on more directed efforts.

All but Bradfoot are regulars on your boards. They are the ones other tea bags approach with their questions.
You need some more phrases of racists anti-white hate?
Would you like me to start quoting Van Jones?
I stand by everything I EVER said on this site.
What I said was not racist. IT WAS THE TRUTH. Straight from the mouth of bigoted, America hating dirt bag Jeremiah Wright!
I sit here and read these responses. Most are at least contributing an opinion. Then there are others that are so childish they make me want to puke. The problem with our country are the ignorant, stupid, worthless humans that call themselves citizens.
Can you not see the harm being done to our country? If you are so hung up on your race being so persecuted, why don’t you leave? Go back to where you won’t have to put up with these whities. I’m sick of your whining about your poor race. You’re no more Afro-american than I am German-American. We are all Americans. You black Americans were persecuted when you were enslaved, but that was another time long ago. I personally, and no other white in this entire country has enslaved anyone since 1865!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I believe it was WHITE men that freed you!!!!!! or do you remember that? If you want to complain about the past of your race, I would go to the chieftans of the different African tribes that sold your asses into slavery. It may have been whites who sold or traded you after the fact, but it wasn’t whites that sold you to those whites, it was your own Black leaders in Africa. So quit blameing current day whites for the attrocities of your past. The whites today have to put up with your whining and complaining, when damn near everything is being handed to you on a silver platter. Get over it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This site is here to help improve our country before the politicians sell us ALL into slavery. If you have even half a brain you can watch that unfolding daily.
I suspect those questioning racism among your movement are white. I doubt African American people would come here for more than a brief glance.
Amen to that…….most AA do not know their real history!
“The problem with our country are the ignorant, stupid, worthless humans that call themselves citizens.”
This is why people on the left call some people on the right, low information. This post is ignorant and exactly why liberals are upset that this outrage is racially motivated. It is clear where you stand. Thank you for being so honest. Good luck with reclaiming “your America.”
This outrage is anything BUT racially motivated…Of course you don’t consider the many, many conservative blacks out there “real” AA’s. Only if they agree with your point of view.
And you act as if everyone on the Left is SO informed…Give me a break. Most are just sheep.
You should tell that to South Paw.
I was replying to southpaw 28. This may not be your perspective, but you can’t deny the racist tone of the comment. It’s fine for this person to have their opinion, but don’t lead in with “The problem with our country are the ignorant, stupid, worthless humans that call themselves citizens,” and then go on to say this..

WTF?!?! I know this person may not represent you, but they do represent a group of very vocal supporters. And my point is that is very difficult to listen to the message when this is being put out there.
Sarah Palin is off working on her memoirs somewhere, so she wasn’t in the audience Wednesday to hear President Barack Obama call her a liar.
Palin is the most prominent politician to have promoted the idea that Obama wants to create some sort of Third Reich-style medical bureaucracy that would decide whether the disabled and the elderly deserve to live, or just have their health care terminated.
“Death panels,” Palin called them, in one of the most calculated, incendiary falsehoods of the entire health-care debate. It embarrassed even some of her fellow right wingers.
But it served its purpose, scaring the living daylights out of older voters and churning up so much anxiety over the summer that Obama was forced to address it in his speech to Congress this week.
The death panels rumour, said Obama, “would be laughable if it weren’t so cynical and irresponsible. It is a lie, plain and simple.”
In the same speech, though, Obama cited a few uniquely American anecdotes not too far from just the sort of thing Palin and her cohort are predicting:
* An Illinois man whose health insurance was cut off in the middle of chemotherapy because an enterprising researcher at the insurance company discovered he hadn’t reported gallstones he didn’t even know he had. With his treatment cut off, he proceeded to die.
* A Texas woman who was about to undergo a double mastectomy when her health insurer cut her off, citing an unreported case of acne earlier in her life. By the time she got the decision reversed, said Obama, her breast cancer had more than doubled in size.
These are common stories here, reported in the media just about every day.
* The Los Angeles woman with lupus, fluid in the heart and pancreatic cancer who was cut off health coverage because of unreported earlier back pain (which she says isn’t even true).
And of course, it doesn’t have to be true. Or even remotely related to your illness. It just has to be in your doctor’s notes, or hinted at in your doctor’s notes, even if your doctor didn’t tell you about it.
The moment the insurance company finds it, bang! Your treatment is cut off. And the insurers really start looking for excuses once you get sick and start submitting costly claims (one insurer, Health Net, has actually admitted paying bonuses to employees who dig up reasons to maroon sick clients).
If your treatment is life-preserving, like chemotherapy, and you can’t find some other way to pay, you die.
The industry term for cancelling a policy on some sort of technical grounds is “rescission,” and it is probably the most odious practice of an industry known for some pretty predatory behaviour.
Now, imagine for a moment what the reaction would be if federal or state governments started directing public servants to comb medical histories for the slightest excuse to cut off life-saving care. (It’s not well understood abroad, and sometimes not very well understood here, but the American government is already in the health-insurance business, big time. Medicare pays health-care bills for senior citizens, and Medicaid, the state-run programs, pay to treat the indigent).
The answer is obvious. It would be called what it is: Brutal, near-criminal, disgusting, inhuman behaviour. Maybe even death panels. And it wouldn’t last long once the public found out.
The curious thing is, when private companies do it, companies whose profit motive is diametrically opposed to the well-being of their clients, the American public remains relatively supine.
This sort of thing has been going on here for years, and while the horror stories are denounced regularly by liberal activists and routinely retailed by Democrats in stump speeches, it seems to be regarded by the public at large as just business. As in: “Well, they do have shareholders to answer to.”
In the minds of many here, business is good for America, and whatever business has to do to make money is good for America, too.
Certainly you don’t hear much about health insurance rescission from Sarah Palin, or Senator Jim DeMint, or the Christian conservative leaders who are now mobilizing against Obama’s plan. They have various motives. Palin wants to be president. The evangelicals believe Obama’s plan will lead to publicly financed abortion. Others, like DeMint, have stated flatly they simply want Obama to fail.
But where great swathes of the public are concerned, the antipathy to publicly funded medicine is something else. Clearly, a lot of people here fear any plan run by their own government more than that of the most venal insurance company.
It’s partly the innate distrust of government itself among conservative Americans, and it’s partly the widespread American self-image as a nation of rugged individualists who scorn public handouts, as delusional as that may be (see earlier reference to Medicare and Medicaid, not to mention the ocean of public subsidies that flow from Washington).
Obama himself has been talking about a woman who sent him a letter containing a stern admonition: “‘I don’t want government-run health care. I don’t want you meddling in the private marketplace. And keep your hands off my Medicare.’”
“True story,” says Obama, when he tells it.
And sort of pathetic, given the stakes of what’s going on here.
The fact is, there is so little understanding of what really exists here now and what is actually being proposed that for Palin and her cohort, working against Obama’s plan amounts to picking low-hanging fruit.
After Obama’s speech, the Washington Post quoted a middle-aged woman sitting in the waiting room of a local hospital.
The speech, she said, sent her blood pressure up: “For every story he tells about somebody that doesn’t have insurance, there’s one you can tell about somebody who wouldn’t get treatment because the government wouldn’t allow it.”
Well, as somebody who lived for 40 years in a country that has one of the most strictly public health systems in the world, I know all about the shortcomings of government-funded medicine. But in all those years, I never saw anything like what the insurance companies here are capable of.
To borrow one of Palin’s attack phrases: “Downright evil.”
You missed my point. Most AA wouldn’t waste their time here. They know all about your kind. It’s us white folk who are dumbfounded and repulsed by your racism. I for one see you as an embarrassment to my race.
i expected 10,000… i saw 1.5 million. as we drove home i checked the news on my phone all the way back and now have a cleared picture on how pathedic our media in America is, even Fox news. the numbers were wrong
IJust got back from the Dc this morning. WOW!!! What an experience. Everyone that I talked to said they would have done it all over again even considering that times are tuff here in Michigan and most people in my group spent at least 150 bucks for the bus trip and hotel. You have to watch the You Tube videos. Everyone was incredibly nice and happy.
Good Morning,
My wife and I came to the 912 Washington protest. We came to stand up and be counted among decent U S Citizens wanting Washington to know that we will vote them out of office if they continue down their selfish path of spending.
We were right up front and were amazed and pleased to witness the size of the protest.
We were told repeatively by speakers representing 912dc.org that the “official”estimates of our numbers was 1.5 million. When we tuned in to Glen Beck at 9:00 PM last evening, the reports ranged from 60,000 to 200,000 protesters? The reported size of our group is very important to illustrate to Washington that we truly mean business. Tell me truthfully what would you consider to be the most accurate estimate of how many of us attended this historic peaceful protest? We left the protest (which lasted six hours) absolutely thrilled with our decision to spend our own money to drive down from Buffalo,NY to be there.
The very low numbers attending as reported by Glen Beck threw a wet blanket on our day.
Buffalo Tom.

That’s right, Evette. If you keep saying it, your fanciful lie will eventually become true!
I was so excited to join so many awesome patriots yesterday in Washington D.C. We numbered between 1.5 to 2 million concerned Americans, according to Park Police, all fighting for the same important cause that our founding fathers so courageously fought approximatly 200 years ago. Being only 17 and coming from an extremely liberal high school, I was touched to be surrounded by thousands that shared my views and interests. I do not want to be the product of a wasted generation that has no future; that is why me and my best friend proudly joined the march yesterday. Obama has been given too much freedom, and therefore has spent my future trying to protect his. I will not benefit from Social Security and my health care is in jeopardy as well. As if this was not enough for him to take, he has stolen my America and murdered capitalism.
I would just like to further express that although I am Republican, I am not a “right-wing domestic terrorist”, a racist, or as Van Jones called me, an asshole. I am merely a concerned conservative patriot that believes that America deserves the best.
It saddens me that older individuals on this sight use excessive profanity, unruly comments and false accusations to hide their own ignorance. And before I am attacked by More Racism Please, I would like to point out that not only am I 17, I am Native American and a girl so therefore a double minority. Therefore, your racism accusation will not work on me.
Get a new comeback.
Tara…I am absolutely awed at your maturity for 17 yrs old. You give me renewed hope in the future of America. Your parents should be PROUD of you. Keep it up, girl. YOU are amazing!
God bless you.

Very good commentary. My response would be that rather than force people to buy insurance, which is subject to it’s own set of P&L, why not make it law, (which it is already probably), that no one can be denied emergency/life saving medical treatments? Whether or not you have insurance, shouldn’t matter anyway – why do we have public medical facilitiies? State and county run – on our property taxes – doctors, some of the BEST in the country mind you, and state of the art facilities. If we ONLY treated emergencies in the ER – and if we followed up on the billing, working with patients to pay off the bills of unexpected accidents or whatever, (that we should all be setting money aside to help pay for), then perhaps we’d not have as much unpaid med bills that Obama is saying is what is forcing the cost of medical care up, so that he wants to force me to buy insurance to pay it for me.
I’ve not shopped for insurance, basically because I’m still very healthy and blessed not to need a doctor – but even so, are they going to cover eastern medicine techniques? Will any insurance company accept the fact that not all of us want chemotherapy but would rather use natural methods to fight diseases? What about preventative measures? Smokers, over eaters, risk takers – are they all going to be put into higher risk coverage groups or is that goin to be illegal, too, and we all have to pay for the fact – the FACT that those people generate more medical bills than the rest of us?
This is too crazy for me to wrap my mind around. Give people emergency care when they need it – help them pay it off. It should be that simple. It is much more expensive to test every single person for every disease possible out there and/or vaccinate them against them, than it will be to treat the few (in proportion), who actually contract the illness/disease.
The only ones who will come out ahead – the insurance companies…..
I was unable to attend due to my health issues, sadly.
But as I watched via online I was sooooo excited and thrilled to see all of you who were there! To see all of the expressions of great love and concern for our country. It warms my heart and stirs my soul to witness an event like that!
Do they hear us now? Yes they do!
But the question now remains, What will they do in response to what they have heard?
I say, its time for America to not wait for that answer! It’s time they all got removed from their offices, showing themselves to not be worthy of them!!!
I have to say that I was moved to tears by the shear number of people I saw out there as I watched on CNN’s video. I was not even aware this all was going on until I caught something on line abou it – I dont’ watch t.v. – but man, I”m glad for the video stream that was on file – I actually watched the whole thing off and on – thank goodness for pause keys – and I was simple in awe of all of those who marched down there. My brother said he knew nothing about it – and he does watch t.v. so it goes to show you that the main stream media must not have given it much coverage.
Thank you – to all of you who did go to DC, on your own dimes. I look forward to keeping a bit more abreast now that I’ve found these websites.
Hello,
I was so glad to be a part of the recovery mission of the United States Constitution and the conservative movement.
Barry Obama promised change and he sure is getting that! He has woken up the American People and the average John Doe. I am sure Barry Obama did not realize that the American people were going to remain silent during his communist taker over, and put up with the Arrogance displayed by his staff.
There were approx 2 million AMERICANS present and the next one wil be larger!
I hope you are correct – we can NOT let our country go down the toliet because a small percentage of people want free everything. I loved the guy who said that his relatives set up “home” from scratch – no government housing was waiting on them. No free this and free that. They built their home with their own 2 hands – and a lot of work!
If someone is truely disabled, orphaned, no, we don’t let them die on the street – but we don’t need to be taking care of everyone who should be working to take care of him or herself. Personal responsibility is something hard to learn sometimes – but once we do, it is a lesson that betters us all. Mabye we should require THAT from everyone, instead of everyone be forced to buy insurance policies. I be the health insurance companies can’t wait for that to take effect.
And for those of you unaware of the rest of what is going on – wait til the farmers start storming the gates as they force corporate type regulations on your small farmers, in the name of homeland security and food safety. When was the last time you got sick from your neighbor’s back yard spinach or your granny’s apples?
The US governement is so out of control – how did this happen?
Good evening,
Like those above we also attended thhis 09-12 project, and were overwhelmed at all the nationalities that were present and who all are against this current administrative pratices.
It was a sincere God caring event that captured the American Spirit. The Obamians can try all sort of Gangsta tatics but they cannot destroy our Spirit.
We had an African American Bus driver that was a wonderful gentleman and his professionalism contributed to the positive atmosphere we all saw. “Go ahead USA, these guys will not stand in our way”.
You’ve got to be kidding?
I just finished watching the address from the other night – after I watched the nearly 3 hour long, triumphant march on DC. In the President’s address, did he say that he is going to REQUIRE everyone in America to buy health insurance? WTH?
Does this mean I’ll get a discount on my property taxes which fund the public medical system currently in place? I thought that is why we had public hospitals, free clinics and such…… or are those just for people who get coverage and then don’t pay their bill? I know a few like that – some should be paying and others are unemployed anyway and couldn’t afford to pay. But then like our other bills, those should be either waived by the company/doctor or put the person on a payment plan. If it takes the rest of your life to pay it, then that is YOUR responsibilitiy, not your neighbors’. IF I WANT to buy health insurance, I can. I’ll shop around for it, like anything else I buy, and make an educated CHOICE.
Personally, I’m very blessed when it comes to medical needs. I, however, don’t tend to go to regular western medical doctors when I am under the weather. I treat it with natural means or herbal meds – NOT going to be covered by anyone’s insurance plan that I’ve ever seen. And there are those who NEVER go to the doctor because it is outside of thier faith – they are going to be forced to pay for something they will not use?
This is a HUGE infringment on my freedom/liberty. HUGE. At least as huge as forcing people to wear a seatbelt, or a helmet when they ride their bike in certain cities. These are things that will affect ME and ME alone. I am not asking anyone else to pay for my bills –
Maybe we need to have a debtors jail system – just think how much we could save in labor if we had people who couldn’t pay their debts, working them off. We allow community service for crimes – why not for unpaid debts?
I’m a bit skeptical and I don’t do a good job keeping up with things as I”m not a t.v. watcher. I wait and hear something on the radio and then go listen/watch it on the net – like I did today. But people, what the heck is going on with our country? This is getting really a bit scarey!?
If they can REQUIRE me to buy ANYTHING, then where do they stop? What if they want us all to have to carry life insurance next. Who benefits – the insurance companies do. And then we all have to buy certain cars – the auto companies benefit – this is MY money and I should be free to spend or save it however I want to!!
IF and when I choose to give to a charity that helps people who are down and out – THAT is how this country was founded – not by FORCING people to be giving up of what they had. People who give freely do exisit – there are charities all over the world proving that – if they could keep their overhead down then more of the cash donated could actually reach the folks it was intended for, but the point is that there are people, no not all, but there are very generous people out there that do help those who find themselves in a predicament.
Emergency rooms are not for people with colds, flus, sore throats, stitch removal, etc. – they should be sent on their merry ways to a clinic. ER is for broken bones, women in labor, snake bites, severe allergic reactions, heart attacks, accidents, etc. And when they send you the bill – pay it, even if it is in payments like we charge our tv’s, tivo’s, fancy clothes or whatever. Health care is not something to be denied, true, in an emergency – you’ll not be turned away. But health insurance, is a benefit, or something you pay for/afford in order to have someone else pay for your medical bills.
How, in the world, can we let this happen folks? How can we let the government, OUR government, force us to buy anything?
I hope the march on DC was just the start of something permanent. WE ARE NOT insensitive – just not feeling like we need to be forced to be our brother’s keepers. If we can help – and we don’t, then shame on us. But that is between us and the mirror we look into every day. If we can’t help and we try anyway – then good for us. We’ll reap what we sow – eventuallly.
God, bless America for she knows not what the heck she is doing anymore….

It was great to see truly everyday-kind of people voting with their feet and letting their voices be heard in DC!!
Since President Obama has taken office have race relations gotten better or worse? Answer @ http://whimsis.com/?mu5ewg98
We all bleed the same blood we’re all human beings, we will never find peace if we dont stop the fighting over whos right and who’s wrong. When in doubt just breathe and think, you dont need to accept their gift of passion. Feeding fire with fire only makes a bigger fire. We could all be one, but its human nature to want to win, so the fight on race continues.
I see that when you search in the search engines “march on DC”, you dont get any major media websites or news pages talking about the March on Washington, DC on Saturday! Then when you go to there websites they have the nerve to lie about how many people were there. ABCNEWS said 70-80,000 marched when I have reports of as many as 2 million people were there to march from alternative media. CNN/24 hours has nothing to report as well as there Home page? MSNBC says thousands march?? Amazing how so many rely on their accuracy in news reporting and they can’t even begin to approximate a count within a 100 thousand to what is really the number!! They obviously want to downplay this the whole way! One thing to let the News media know as well as the government, the million plus people that gathered in DC on the 12th of September is just a fraction of the total enraged citizens at the tyranny that is happening and the malicious lies being told to all of us by them. Soon, the many millions will be in the streets to fight and it wont be peaceably. Patrick Henry said “Give me Liberty or give me death!” and that is what many feel. The French reveolution ended in a way that this may end. Look out New World Order, you may have woke up a sleeping giant!
Name one legitimate source who provides any of the figures you people are lying to each other about.
Major media didn’t cover it because you didn’t say anything important at the rally. It’s like the way I ignore my kids when they throw fits. Because paying attention to childish behavior only encourages it.
The vast majority of us have real lives to lead and voted for the very officials that you douchebags can’t accept having lost to. Better get used to being ignored.
So, PLEASE… why don’t YOU ignore us???
I attended the march on Saturday and must say that I am proud to have walked with so many fellow patriots. I was overwhelmed by the turnout and moved to tears to see how many love this country as I do. Whatever your reason for marching, we all came together for one common cause, to protect our rights and freedoms as Americans. I have never in my life been surrounded by so many courteous and kind individuals and it reminded me that in the words of Glen Beck, I am not alone in my beliefs. I believe in our Constitution and I believe in this movement and will continue to march with my fellow patriots to protect our Country and Constitution.
Saturday was not a black or white thing or a republican or democat thing, it was truly an AMERICAN thing!
Thank you Eric! Great job!
These tea baggers and the people who are exploiting them, Dick Armey, Glenn Beck, Fox News, The insurance companies, corporate lobbyists, the Drugster aka Rush, etc, are a disgrace to our great country.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUPMjC9mq5Y
Gosh, I can’t believe some of the un-nessasary nasty comments here.
I love my Country with all my heart and all through the ages we’ve had to stand up for our freedom.
These are very heartfelt issues and we need to do this now before it’s too late.
It was wonderful to see the huge response right here in my living room.
And regarding healthcare………………………….
How in the world can we give 40 million more people health-care without thousands of more doctors and nurses. Think about it folks!! Who’s going to suffer??
Social Security is broke, Medicare needs fixing, and Medicaid is so full of fraud and has been for decades.
We need to fix our Country and our system folks. We (the people) need our voices heard. Cut the Government in half or more, cut the perks, stop the raises they give themselves, no more Government as usual for any party!!!!, no more bail-outs, have our Congressmen/women pay into Social Security AND collect it the same way we do. Don’t you hate it when those in Washington talk about the Rich? They talk the talk, they should walk the walk. The people that works for us, our servants, don’t need two and three houses off us the taxpayers.
I wanted to be in Washington so bad but just couldn’t go but was happy that I could join in the rally we had in Bangor. We proudly carried our flags and signs and sang “God Bless America” at Kenduskeag Stream.
And, it was an American thing.
FreedomWorks’ Marching Orders
9/15/09, 6:27 am EST
For another example of how Dick Armey’s FreedomWorks gives the “grassroots” Tea Party Patriots their marching orders, check out this email, obtained by Rolling Stone from the Tea Party Patriot’s Google group.
In the email, FreedomWorks’ campaigns director, Brendan Steinhauser directs Amy Kremer — one of the two national directors of the Tea Party Patriots — as well as a half-dozen leaders of local TPP chapters from Oregon to Florida in a scheme to bombard Blue Dog Senator Blanche Lincoln (D-Arkansas) with angry anti-healthcare reform calls.
Steinhauser invokes the work of Saul Alinsky and says the action “will make a powerful statement from grassroots America that we will FIGHT to stop the federal government from taking over the health care system!”

Subject: July 4th Recess Phone Blitz on Health Care
Hey everyone,
I thought next week would be a great chance to put into practice our Saul Alinsky “rules for radicals” by flooding Senator Blanche Lincoln with phone calls. Let’s turn the heat on her Monday-Friday (June 29th to July 3rd) and keep her phone ringing all day, every day, next week. The Senator is a key swing vote on the health care debate, and it is critical that we make it very uncomfortable for anyone who is considering supporting government-run health care.
The plan is simple: forward this message around to your email list, and ask everyone to forward the message to their lists, so that thousands of activists around the country get this email. Once we spread the word via email and get everyone on the same page, we can start blasting her with phone calls on Monday morning at 8:30am Central time. Call, and call again, until we fill up her voice mail inbox in EVERY FIELD OFFICE IN ARKANSAS!
Let’s see how many calls we can get into her offices, and how long it takes to get them to take the phones off the hook. This will make a powerful statement from grassroots America that we will FIGHT to stop the federal government from taking over the health care system! If you have any questions about this campaign, please send me an email or give me a call.
Thanks!

WHAT pray tell…is your point? Do you seriously think 1.7 million people just happened to show up in DC this past weekend at the same time with NO communication??
Weak, very weak… an e-mail… woot!! Your investigative prowess is amazing!!
BTW, it IS very much a grassroots movement. AND nobody was paid to show up like with ACORN and the SEIU at the town halls…what do you think grassroots means?
It’s really just proof that you are the ones who are proudly using this “rules for radicals playbook” that the rest of us never heard of.
Sad and pathertic little minions marching in the dick army protecting the interests of the rich and powerful to the detriment of the middle class and the poor.
Upset we are using your play book? As they say, fight fire with fire. The big difference o our side is we don’t break the law and we don’t pretend to be something we are not. The only “sad and pathetic little minions” posting here are left wing extremists grasping at straws.
No, not upset at all. I’m glad you are being honest about your hypocrisy.
Hypocrisy? Grasping at straws here? I fail to see any hypocrisy at all.
One thing we don’t do, besides break laws and destroy other peoples property, is we do not pose as you and say crazy things the way your side does.
One of the first things Saul Alinsky came up with was rather than go and protest someone/something, show up in say a KKK outfit and shout slogans of support for whomever/whatever it is you want to protest. We don’t do that, but your side does.
Nice try, thanks for playing, drive through now.
This is the best you have that something nefarious is going on here? You should see the stuff I get in my Facebook email from John X Choe (New York, NY). SEIU and ACORN marching orders flow from this guy like water over Niagara Falls.
You desperate lefties keep posting here, we will keep laughing at you as you scurry like roaches when the lights come on.
I am still waiting for answers to these questions.
- Our unfunded liability for Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid is close to $100 trillion. Is there any way to pay for these programs without bankrupting America?
- We are in so much debt, why spend more borrowed money on cap-and-trade and healthcare programs before we stop the flow of red-ink?
- The stimulus package funneled billions of dollars to ACORN. How does giving billions of dollars to ACORN stimulate the economy?
- If it was so important for congress to pass the stimulus bill before they even had time to read it why has only a fraction of the stimulus money been spent 6 months later?
- Bush said he had to abandon free market principles in order to save them, how exactly does that work?
- Why won’t members of Congress read the bills before they vote on them? For that matter, why are they not the ones writing them? Is this not what we pay them to do? Why is SEIU writing the healthcare bill in the house?
- Why are citizens mocked and laughed at when they ask their congressman to read the bills before they vote on them?
- Was the cash-for-clunkers program meant to save the earth or the economy? Did it accomplish either?
- How did Van Jones, a self-proclaimed communist become a special advisor to the president?
- Did President Obama know of Van Jones’ radical political beliefs when he named him special advisor?
- The Apollo Alliance claimed credit for writing the stimulus bill—why was this group allowed to write any portion of this bill?
- If politicians aren’t writing the bills and aren’t reading the bills, do they have any idea what these 1000 page plus bills actually impose on the American people?
- If the ‘public option’ health care plan is so good why won’t politicians agree to have that as their plan?
- If town hall meetings are intended for the politicians to learn what’s on our mind—why do they spend so much time talking instead of listening?
- Politicians are refusing to attend town hall meetings complaining, without evidence, that they are scripted. Does that mean we shouldn’t come out and vote for you since every campaign stop, baby kiss and speech you give is scripted?
- Why would you want to overwhelm the system?
- Is using the economic crises to rush legislation through congress what Rahm Emanuel meant when he talked about “not letting a crises go to waste”?
- What are the czars paid? What is the budget for their staffs/offices?
- Who is “surrounding” the President in the White House?
- Do any of the President’s advisers have criminal records?
- Are the President’s advisers working to better the country or their own ideals?
- Who are the anti-capitalists in Washington?
- What roles do they have in crafting bills?
- What was “STORM”? What happened to the founders, where are they now?
- What qualifications must one have to be a Presidential adviser?
- What is the difference between a community organizer and a community activist?
- Do the czars have power?
- Should a communist have the ear of the President of the United States?
- What role did the Apollo Alliance play in crafting bills?
- Does the President know the co-founder of the Weather Underground is a board member of the Apollo Alliance?
- How many people in the administration are connected to the movement for a democratic society?
- What role does George Soros play… CONSTITUTIONALLY?
- Why does the FCC have a diversity “czar”?
- Who is Mark Lloyd and how does he plan to “balance” the airwaves?
- Will he bring back the Fairness Doctrine or worse?
- Cass Sunstein once said he wants to balance the Internet; is that next?
- Will broadcasters who leave the airwaves be allowed to go to satellite or Internet without government regulation?
- Is there any place (that has a mass audience) where the government wont regulate free speech?
- Why does it seem every member of the Obama advisory team hates capitalism, unless those companies (like G.E.) are in bed with the administration?
If Lloyd has his way, stations who don’t comply to the governments definition of the “public interest” will have to pay a massive fine — that helps support public broadcasting:
- What will be the definition of “public interest”?
- Who defines “public interest”?
- Why should it be balanced? Because it’s public airwaves? (Well, there are public roads that go by my house and I don’t count how many Republicans and Democrats are driving on them)
- Why do we need a civilian force?
- Who is posing a threat to us?
- Who will this “force” be made up of?
- Who is the real enemy?
- Does the president know of a coming event? If not, who builds an army against an unrecognized enemy?
- Why won’t the media get off their butts and look into these radicals in the White House? And into this civilian army?
contact your congressman. that’s his/her job. don’t hold your breath.

FreedomWorks’ March on Washington
9/14/09, 2:40 pm EST
Christopher Knight at the Culture Monster blog of the LA Times has been having fun detailing the communist origins of the symbolism in the Tea Party’s 9/12 March on Washington logo:
Knight is hoping someone comes forward with an explanation. National Affairs Daily has obtained it from the horse’s mouth. No, not Glenn Beck, but Brendan Steinhauser the Director of Federal and State Campaigns for FreedomWorks, which orchestrated the march and calls the shots for its subordinate group, Tea Party Patriots.
Below is the text of an email from Steinhauser to the Tea Party Patriots’ national director Jenny Beth Martin shooting down the Martin’s suggestion that the logo be changed.
By way of background, several Tea Partiers had been agitating for an alternate logo — an eagle soaring with a shield – instead of the angry fists in front of the Capitol dome, which they, too, recognized as steeped in socialism.
One activist from Canton, Ohio, posted his discontent to the Tea Party Patriots’ private listserv:
Wow.
We have enough real battles to fight without making ourselves look
like a bunch of Bolsheviks.
This is clearly an education issue.
But according to Steinhauser of FreedomWorks, the decision to “co-opt” the communist imagery was intentional. As he wrote to Martin: “If we want the politicians to pay attention, I believe it is imperative that we… maintain the populist imagery.”
Here is the email to Jenny Beth Martin in all its glory:
I talked to everyone here and there was consensus that we will keep the logo for the website. There are a few reasons for this. One is that the left (Keith Olbermann and Josh Marshall) thinks we don’t understand the connotations of the symbol, which we do.
It was a purposeful decisions to create a defiant image, raised fists against the statist policies of Congress and the president. I think it’s an edgy symbol that communicates the anger and the defiance of the protests happening around the country since early February. I think that we have to make sure this is a protest against what’s going on in DC, and we have to convey that image to the country and the world.
I fear that if we start to lose that edge, the politicians won’t take us as seriously, and will write us off. I’ve been studying and applying the tactics of the left for the last few years, and although I despise their bad ideas, they have us beat when it comes to symbolism, activism and dominating the public debate. I think we can learn from them and co-opt their symbols, some of their messages and even their tactics.
I think we have to remember that this is a March on Washington, which should conjure up images of the street protests in other countries, like Ukraine, Poland in the 80’s, Estonia, etc.
If we want the politicians to pay attention, I believe it is imperative that we keep our edge, tailor our message narrowly and maintain the populist imagery.

To: ACORN District Managers
Re: Voter registration
Greetings everyone. I just wanted to touch base with you all to let you know how important it is that we get as many fake voter registrations as possible in your districts. This allows us to bus in people to vote in your precincts where ID is not required and this helps us get the right people into office to further our agenda of bringing down America.
Push hard everyone. We need at least 10% of the total registration in your districts to be fakes.

See how easy that is.
Unless I see the actual emails with the headers attached so I can trace them back to the IP, or see the document on actual letterhead, anything you post here, real or not is suspect as far as I am concerned. So beat it!
I wasnt able to attend, but I was soooo thrilled to see the turnout !!
I have been actively protesting from my living room – sending hundreds
of postcards to senators / obama / some representatives like a madwoman!!
Thanks to all who took the time and made the effort to MARCH ON DC — I know your efforts were well
worth it and again, I thank you !
WELL DONE !!!
I have been reading these posts. I am sure that in a crowd of 1.2 to 2 million people that there were a few racists. But the vast majority of the people who attended the March and Rally, from what I personally saw were good people who are seeing this nation slide towards Socialism. Yes the slide started after 9/11/2001 in ernest. and most of us said “let someone else raise all the caine” and very few people did anything about the government getting bigger and bigger. But we are standing up now and letting our elected officials know how we feel and why..
Please go to
http://www.flickr.com
and search for 912dc
there are over 8000 pictures there. Pictures taken by people like you and me. See how much racism you see. I personally saw none.
Though there were differing views and different reasons for being there, people joined together PEACEFULLY to protest what we see as the corruption and deterioration of this great country.
I resent being classified as a racist only because I disagree with the Progressive/Socialistic views of this administration ( I note the administration is not calling us racists, it is others on the fringes of the left who are). If this were Hillary Clinton, I would be pushing back just as hard. But then, the fringe left would not call us racists, we would then be sexisits. Same issues, different person…
Mr. Obama’s poll numbers are steadily dropping. Even people who voted for him…white people who I personally know, are now questioning why. Not because he is a mixed race man but because the change he is pushing is not the change these people thought they would get. They were expecting honesty and clarity. Instead they are seeing the “Shadow Government” developing. They are seeing for the first time what I and others were proclaiming during the campaign, Progressive = Socialism. This was not the change that many many Americans voted for. this was not the Hope they thought they were getting. this is redistribution of wealth, that is unless you are a card carrying, big buck donating Democrat, then you are protected.
My daddy used to say about cussing “it is a weak mind trying to express itself forcibly” To the person who sees us all as racists and wants to curse comments. well buddy, you are not worth the time or energy to argue with. In fact your opinons tend to galvanzie people like us. I will not argue with you, I will not debate you. I will say that as an American, I will die to give you the right to express your opinions, but please say it with dignity and civility.
Hello,
I was proud to see so many Americans participating in the political possess that makes this country, while not perfect , still the best in the world.
It says a lot that such a massive crowd can gather peacefully to express their views with virtually NO violence or law breaking. That can’t be said of many left wing events.
As for the troll you have here trying to stir you up. Just ignore “it”. It will go away if you don’t feed it. It is frightened by the power of the real people and does not have the intellect or the truth on it’s side to make a real argument so it just spews garbage and projects on others what it is guilty of….ignorance and racism of the worst kind. It is a racist that uses the race card when it has no other argument.
Please stop feeding it so it will crawl away to hide back under it’s rock.
I agree with the above.
Just ignore these people.
They come to sites like this to stir the pot.
If they believe so strongly against what we are marching for,
Then why are they not taking to the streets to be heard.
Like us…..We The People!!!!

On the first day of August, a mob of 200 right-wing Texans stormed the parking lot of a Randalls grocery store in southwest Austin. They were united in a single goal: Disrupt the “office hours” that Rep. Lloyd Doggett, the district’s congressman, had scheduled for his constituents. The protesters targeted Doggett for his role in crafting the House’s bill to reform health care, brandishing signs that read “No Government Health Care” and “No Government Counselor in My Home!!!” But their anger seemed to encompass a universe of conservative fears: higher taxes, illegal immigration, socialism. The threat of violence was thinly veiled: One agitator held aloft a tombstone with the name Doggett. Screaming, “Just say no!” the mob chased Doggett through the parking lot to an aide’s car — roaring with approval as he fled the scene.
Conservatives were quick to insist that the near-riot — the first of many town-hall mobs that would dominate the headlines in August — was completely spontaneous. The protesters didn’t show up “because of some organized group,” Rick Scott, the head of Conservatives for Patients’ Rights, told reporters. “They’re mad about the stimulus bill, the bailout, the economy. Now they see that their health care is about to be taken over by the government.”
In fact, Scott’s own group had played an integral role in mobilizing the protesters. According to internal documents obtained by Rolling Stone, Conservatives for Patients’ Rights had been working closely for weeks as a “coalition partner” with three other right-wing groups in a plot to unleash irate mobs at town-hall meetings just like Doggett’s. Far from representing a spontaneous upwelling of populist rage, the protests were tightly orchestrated from the top down by corporate-funded front groups as well as top lobbyists for the health care industry. Call it the return of the Karl Rove playbook: The effort to mobilize the angriest fringe of the Republican base was guided by a conservative dream team that included the same GOP henchmen who Swift-boated John Kerry in 2004, smeared John McCain in 2000, wrote the script for Republican obstructionism on global warming, and harpooned the health care reform effort led by Hillary Clinton in 1993.
“The insurance industry is up to the same dirty tricks, using the same devious PR practices it has used for many years, to kill reform,” says Wendell Potter, who stepped down last year as chief of corporate communications for health insurance giant CIGNA. “I’m certain that people showing up at these town halls feel that they’re there on their own — but they don’t realize they’re being incited, ultimately, by the insurance industry and the other special interests.”
Behind the scenes, top Republicans — including House Minority Whip Eric Cantor, Minority Leader John Boehner and the chairman of the GOP’s Senate steering committee, Jim DeMint — worked hand-in-glove with the organizers of the town brawls. Their goal was not only to block health care reform but to bankrupt President Obama’s political capital before he could move on to other key items on his agenda, including curbing climate change and expanding labor rights. As DeMint told an August teleconference of nearly 20,000 town-hall activists, “If we can stop him on this, the administration won’t be able to go on to cap and trade, card check and the other things they want to do.”
WRITING THE SCRIPT
The campaign to mobilize the town-hall mobs began with a script written by the right’s foremost fearmonger, Frank Luntz. Luntz rose to fame in 1994 as pollster for Newt Gingrich’s Contract With America, and crafted the Republican playbook on global warming. In a May memo, Luntz outlined a battle plan for conservatives to block what he branded the “Washington takeover” of health care — the most terrifying buzz words conjured up in his polls and focus groups.
The logic of the language is simple, Luntz writes: “Takeovers are like coups — they both lead to dictators and a loss of freedom.” For a third of all Americans, he adds, the top worry about health care reform is “being denied a procedure or medication because a Washington bureaucrat says no.” Luntz concludes by telling Republicans how best to play the fear card. “It is essential that ‘deny’ and ‘denial’ enter the conservative lexicon immediately,” he writes, “because it is at the core of what scares Americans most about a government takeover of health care.”
Distributed widely to Republicans on Capitol Hill, the memo framed the right-wing attack on health care reform. What Luntz describes as “the best anti-Democrat message” is by now familiar to everyone in America: “No Washington bureaucrat should stand between your family and your doctor… The Democrats want to put Washington politicians in charge of your health care.”
For the archenemies of Obamacare, however, Luntz’s anti-Washington script didn’t go nearly far enough. To amp up the panic, they decided to spin the “takeover” fear to its most extreme conclusion: Washington bureaucrats plan to institute “death panels” that would deny life-sustaining care to the elderly. That portion of the script was drafted by Betsy McCaughey, the former lieutenant governor of New York, who insists that her expertise as a constitutional historian enables her to decipher the 1,017 pages of legalese that comprise the House health care bill.
McCaughey first unveiled her “findings” on July 16th, during an appearance on the radio show of former GOP presidential candidate Fred Thompson. “I have just finished reading the House bill,” McCaughey declared. “I hope that people listening will protect their parents from what’s intended under this bill.” Citing page 425 of HR 3200 — a section that outlines the same kind of optional, end-of-life counseling that Republicans have voted for in the past — McCaughey uncorked a terrifying lie. “Congress,” she said, “would make it mandatory — absolutely require that every five years, people in Medicare have a required counseling session that will tell them how to end their life sooner.” The Obama plan, she added, is financed by “shortening your mother or father’s life.”
McCaughey has run this con before. During the debate over Clinton’s health care overhaul in the early 1990s, McCaughey — then an academic at the right-wing Manhattan Institute — wrote an article for The New Republic called “No Exit,” in which she claimed that Hillarycare would prevent even wealthy Americans from “going outside the system to purchase basic health coverage you think is better.” Even though the bill plainly stated that “nothing in this Act” would prohibit consumers from purchasing additional care, McCaughey’s claim was echoed endlessly in the press, with each repetition pounding a stake further into the heart of the reform effort.
McCaughey’s lies were later debunked in a 1995 post-mortem in The Atlantic, and The New Republic recanted the piece in 2006. But what has not been reported until now is that McCaughey’s writing was influenced by Philip Morris, the world’s largest tobacco company, as part of a secret campaign to scuttle Clinton’s health care reform. (The measure would have been funded by a huge increase in tobacco taxes.) In an internal company memo from March 1994, the tobacco giant detailed its strategy to derail Hillarycare through an alliance with conservative think tanks, front groups and media outlets. Integral to the company’s strategy, the memo observed, was an effort to “work on the development of favorable pieces” with “friendly contacts in the media.” The memo, prepared by a Philip Morris executive, mentions only one author by name:
“Worked off-the-record with Manhattan and writer Betsy McCaughey as part of the input to the three-part exposé in The New Republic on what the Clinton plan means to you. The first part detailed specifics of the plan.”
McCaughey did not respond to Rolling Stone’s request for an interview.
ASSEMBLING THE TEAM
Armed with the script prepared by McCaughey and Luntz, a tight coalition of deep-pocketed groups took the lead in mobilizing the town-hall protests. The two primary groups — Americans for Prosperity and FreedomWorks — actually grew out of the 2003 breakup of an outfit called Citizens for a Sound Economy that had been integral in the fight against Hillarycare. Indeed, the same “Tobacco Strategy” memo in which Philip Morris boasts of shaping McCaughey’s writings also reveals that the tobacco giant paid Citizens for a Sound Economy to engineer a “grassroots” revolt against health care reform by staging demonstrations in the home districts of key congressmen. “The goal,” states the memo, “is to show the Clinton plan as a government-run health care system replete with higher taxes… rationing of care and extensive bureaucracies.”
Americans for Prosperity, which has taken the lead in the current fight against reform, is a front group for oil billionaires David and Charles Koch, co-owners of the world’s largest private oil and gas conglomerate. The Kochs, who provide much of AFP’s budget, have a strange affinity for mock uprisings: Matt Schlapp, one of the original “Brooks Brothers rioters” — the GOP activists who disrupted the Bush-Gore recount in Miami-Dade County — now serves as director of federal affairs for Koch Industries, orchestrating the firm’s political efforts in Washington.
To head Americans for Prosperity, the brothers tapped Tim Phillips, one of the Republican Party’s most notorious dirty tricksters. Phillips served as a strategic consultant to George W. Bush in 2000 and reputedly took part in the smear campaign in South Carolina that portrayed John McCain’s adopted daughter as his mulatto love child. That same year, Phillips was linked to a nearly identical smear campaign in Virginia that portrayed the primary opponent of Rep. Eric Cantor — a Jew — as the “only Christian in the contest.” Under Phillips, AFP became a driving force behind the Tea Party protests against Obama’s economic stimulus plan, and the group organized the Austin mob that attacked Rep. Doggett. Boosted by the mobilizing effort, AFP now boasts 700,000 members and chapters in 24 states.
The second group behind the town-hall mobs is FreedomWorks, headed by former House Majority Leader Dick Armey. An ideological crusader against the safety net, Armey denounces Medicare as a form of “tyranny” and backed George Bush’s attempt to privatize Social Security. At a 2004 event promoting the benefits of private accounts for “regular folks,” Bush appeared onstage with a “single mom” from Iowa — who, upon closer examination, turned out to be the Iowa director of FreedomWorks. The stated goal of the group, which has received funding from the archconservative Scaife family and corporations like MetLife, is to become “a grassroots juggernaut capable of going toe-to-toe with the unions, extreme enviros and the MoveOn.org’s of the world.” Armey, however, unabashedly compares FreedomWorks to a lynch mob. “We used to use the old saying in the West, that you got outta town just one step ahead of the hangman,” he says, explaining why George Bush’s budget-busting policies didn’t inspire the same outrage among his 400,000 followers. “That’s pretty much what happened with Bush. And poor old President Obama walked into town, y’know, just at high noon.”
After FreedomWorks orchestrated the original Tea Party protests last April, it ostensibly handed over the reins of the movement to a third group, called the Tea Party Patriots. But internal correspondence from the group’s private listserv obtained by Rolling Stone makes clear that FreedomWorks is still calling the shots. In June, after activists on the list began advocating to change a Tea Party logo, a top official from FreedomWorks stepped in and shut down the discussion. “I talked to everyone here,” wrote Brendan Steinhauser, director of federal and state campaigns for FreedomWorks, “and there was consensus that we will keep the logo.”
The Tea Party Patriots listserv also disseminated the playbook used to instruct the town-hall mobs in the tactics of disruption. Titled “Rocking the Town Halls — Best Practices,” the guide was written by a Connecticut tea partier named Bob MacGuffie, who outlined how fewer than three dozen activists could effectively silence a U.S. congressman. “The goal is to rattle him,” the memo states. “Yell out and challenge the Rep’s statements… have someone else follow-up with a shout-out. Set the tone for the hall as clearly informal and free-wheeling. It will also embolden others who agree with us to call out.” In a listserv posting on June 13th, an organizer with the Tea Party chapter in New Haven brought the memo to the attention of Jenny Beth Martin, the national coordinator of Tea Party Patriots. “Hey folks!” the organizer wrote, attaching a copy of MacGuffie’s memo. “We here in CT have developed a strategy for holding our elected officials accountable. We show up en mass at the ‘town hall’ meetings they have!”
Martin immediately knew she’d struck gold. “Showing up en mass at town hall meetings is very good strategy,” she replied. “We want to make sure they feel the heat about these government-run health care bills that will be coming out of committees soon.” Within three weeks, a July 7th e-mail from Martin reveals, the group had appointed a “Nationwide Town Hall Coordinator” to oversee the protests. The goal was straight from the Luntz script: to use the town halls “to inform American Taxpayers of what the implications are if government bureaucrats take over our health care.”
The fourth group behind the town-hall protests, Conservatives for Patients’ Rights, has direct connections to the health care industry. Its founder, Rick Scott, is the former CEO of Columbia/HCA, the world’s largest hospital conglomerate. Scott was ousted from the company after it was caught overbilling taxpayers for Medicare treatment; it eventually pleaded guilty to criminal fraud and paid a record $1.7 billion in penalties. Scott now runs a chain of urgent-care clinics that serve uninsured Americans fearful of being bankrupted by hospital emergency-room visits. “He is one of those people who’s gotten very, very, very rich off of sick people,” says Potter, the former CIGNA executive. “He doesn’t want that cash cow to go away — so that’s why you’re seeing all his money there.”
Indeed, Scott has bankrolled Conservatives for Patients’ Rights with more than $5 million of his own fortune. “We have invested a lot of time, energy and resources into educating Americans over the past several months about the dangers of government-run health care,” he boasted in August. “And I think we’re seeing some of the fruits of that campaign.” To block reform, Scott has also hired CRC Public Relations, the firm that orchestrated the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth campaign against John Kerry in 2004. CRC enjoys high-ranking connections to the right-wing establishment, with a client list including the RNC, the National Republican Senatorial and Congressional Committees, the Federalist Society, the Parents Television Council and the Christian Coalition.
It doesn’t count as grassroots if Corporate Lobbyists, Fox News, and The Rebublican Party organize your protest and tell you how to respond. That’s why no one pays attention to you.
You represent the very people who put this country into this recession!
Here’s a Fox News producer directing your actions at the rally!
From Gawker:
“Fox News has been accused of riling up winguts for the wacky, psychotic 9/12 protests. And while Glenn Beck and company deny such antics, there’s now proof. We’re nearly speechless..

The above video shows a Fox News producer egging on the crowd, a crowd the improbably named newsman Griff Jenkins described on air as “absolutely grassroots.” It was, he declared, an “uprising.” It sure is. Indeed.
Fox executives, of course, have an excuse for the apparent breach of ethical, balanced conduct: the girl’s simply young and “inexperienced.”
The employee is a young, relatively inexperienced associate producer who realizes she made a mistake and has been disciplined.
Hmmm. This looks pretty experienced to us, but perhaps it’s just youthful exuberance — something of which we know nothing.”
