Info for Volunteers and Attendees
All volunteers and attendees should carefully read the DC Capitol Police guidelines for events at the West Lawn, and act accordingly. It is important that all volunteers and attendees read the guidelines and tell those that come with them to the Capitol.
To make this a successful event, we must work with the DC Capitol Police. If you are leading a group to DC, please print out copies of the guidelines and hand them out at organizational meetings or email them to everyone that is coming to DC.
Another thing all volunteers and attendees should remember: this is a peaceful demonstration against big government. We are protesting to defend our liberties and speak out against the size and scope of government, and it is important that our movement remain peaceful if we are to continue to build public support. We are opposed to political violence for both philosophical and strategic reasons. If you want to understand how and why peaceful protests have been successful in the past, please read A Force More Powerful by Peter Ackermann and Jack Duvall.
Here are some Do’s and Don’t’s for attendees of the March on Washington:
While participating in the March on Washington, you will be under the jurisdiction of the United States Capitol Police. Here is a list of things to remember on Capitol Grounds:
- Signs with supports cannot be more than ¾ of an inch in diameter at their largest point
- Sign supports must be wood and must have dull ends
- Supports cannot have protruding nails, screws, or bolts
- Signs cannot offer items for sale, solicit contributions, or engage in commercial advertisement of any kind
- Signs are not permitted within Capitol buildings
- Tents, camping equipment, bedrolls, or shelters of any kind are prohibited
- Do not climb, remove, or damage any statue, seat, wall, fountain, or elevator tower, or any tree, shrub or other landscaping feature
- Do not offer anything for sale or solicit contributions on Capitol Grounds
- Firearms, explosives, clubs, missile, or any other weapons of any kind are prohibited
- Open flames are prohibited
Failure to abide by these rules governing the use of Capitol Grounds could result in fines, arrest, or both.
Remember, above all, be peaceful and respectful. Do not give the left any reason to discredit or dismiss us!
What to Bring:

*please don’t litter.. we will have trash cans for your use
*everything will be inspected by police
What not to Bring:
tents, canopies
nothing to stake in the ground

One other point that is important: the demonstration will take place on the grassy areas in front of the Capitol. We are not permitted to protest on the streets once we complete the March from Freedom Plaza. Please fill in the West Lawn and the surrounding grassy areas, but do not remain on 1st Street. There will be lots of open space along the West Front where we can congregate and listen to the speakers. Thanks!

I am sure everybody has already her about Rep Joe Wilson calling Obama a lier at last nights speech. I don’t know how everybody else feels about that but as for me I say THANK YOU !!!! FINALY!!! SOMEBODY SPEEKS OUT AGAINS THIS GUY!!!. The republican party so far is not supporting him and infact asked him to call an opoligize. We need to support people in goverment like Joe Wilson that courage to speek out. I have been trying to get thru to his office to thank him but the lines are jammed and his website is maxed out. Addison Graves Wilson also accused Strom Thurmond’s African American daughter of being a liar, when she revealed that Thurman had supported her for decades and was her father. Her mother worked as a maid in Thurmond’s house when she was 15 years old and the supposedly segregationist Thurmond was 22.

I defintely agree that we need to support Rep Joe Wilson he is the only one in DC that is man enough to say what the truth is.. I don’t think that he owes anyone an apology. I think we still have freedom of speech. I say Good for him.
I think Obama was so gracious because if he would of made a derogatory statement about the comment he knows that it would of hurt his prestige. And people would dig and find out that all he does is lie and look out for his own behind. He is so egotistical.
Please hear me Glenn, I am 57years old with a wife and two grown children. I have pretty much had my head down for many years working my rut to raise my family. But now that I have done that and I now have a little time to lift my head and look around it seems everything I love about America is on the way out. I won’t have it!
All the questions that you have been asking Washington for weeks now have gone unanswered. I believe they will never be answered unless we force Obamas hand. I have heard a great deal about the actual march on D.C. but not so much about what we hope to accomplish. Sure I know its about liberty, freedom, the constitution and I am sure we will hear a lot of great speeches. But at the end of the day it ends there, we will have accomplished very little. No, we have this chance and maybe ONLY this chance to stand. I truly believe the coming march on D.C. should focus on getting ANSWERS to those questions! We need to send a single certified letter directly to Barack Obama to let him know the reason we are coming to Washington is to get those answers and we are not returning home until we get ‘em. Regardless if it takes days, weeks, months. If we can’t get answers now, we will never get them. And I truly believe this will be the beginning of the end for freedom in this country. We will have been out maneuvered.
How does a march this large stay focused on the job at hand? Who will stand that day to represent all that have come from so far and begin the call for answers? There is too much to lose. We need answers now! Please mention it on all your broadcasts, starting today, that the MAIN reason for this march is to get these questions answered! The people of this grand republic deserve to know now “WHO” is really in the White House.

Rep Joe Wilson simply voiced in public what 50+million Americans were yelling at the TV screens at that moment. He should be supported for giving voice our thoughts.
Most in our family are ill so we will no be physically attending the march in D.C., however, our thoughts and spirit will be with those present. I would just like to let you know that those of us who are proud to be American, unlike our president and his family, are still around and willing to do our own part, no matter how small, to get that message out there. I have served my country in the VOLUNTARY military, worked for the federal government, and chose to stay home for 13 years to raise my own children. I feel lucky to have been given the right to make these choices. Let us not forget that only LEGAL Americans have these rights. Get out there and fight to uphold our Constitution and to limit government control. It may sound a bit corny and cliche, but, Power to the people! Stand up for your beliefs America!

that sentence, to me, is at the heart of the republican/conservative movement. it seems to me that everyone involved in it does not bother to find out the true facts about president obama, his administration, or his plans for our country going forward. all of you get your information from fox news and rush limbaugh and his ilk. if everyone would truly seek out the facts, as they really are, without bias, without hatred, without fear, and without prejudice, you just might be surprised at what you find. there are sources that you can use to educate yourselves and on which you can use as a reliable basis to make your own decisions.

I hope that you do the same with your research. Use all of the resourses out there to test your opinions. I learn more about how I feel and what I believe by talking to others that have a different points of view. It helps hone my debate skills. It forces me to articulate my positions w/o emotion.
As to research–I have done a lot of my own research and disagree with pretty much all of Pres. Obama’s policies. I will continue to feel that way unless by some miracle he changes the direction he is taking this country.

Most people that I know who are for Obama tell me they are going on with their day to day lives and that is all they want. They do not want to know the issues or the truth. I try to watch other news to see both ways. I wish you would do the same and watch FOX Newsa and also read Obama’s own words in “Dreams from my father”. I voted for Obama in the primaries. Yes, Obama is a liar and worse, much worse. I just got back home from out of town and I am about to write Joe WIlson a love letter. Watch out for members of Stormfront and other Neo Nazi groups trying to hand out their tracts and booklets. They may seem innocuous, but all we need is for the MSM to see us holding their material to get all spastic. On their site, they state that they are planning to be at the rally in force, so keep a look out. Don’t know if they still look like skinheads or if they look more mainstream, but watch out who you talk to and what material you’re given.

This rally was amazing and I have been spreading the idea of change for a long time now. This government cant continue to exist the way it does. I am only 17 but I have decided to go into politics in order to assert dramatic change in the size of governent. Look for me, ill be the politician who tells the truth, answers only the questions im asked, and ensures that Liberty remain a topic of conversation on every issue, because as long as Liberty remains only a subject of occasion, there can be no expectation to maintain it. Obama promised change, yet we have gotten the same Tyrany we have seen since Lincoln. So I say Change or Be Changed. And with the 1.5 million people that were at the rally, I dont think I will have issues getting people interested once again in their Liberty.

To be clear and since in my past the Federal Government has found reason to inquire about any statement I make without complete explaination (though they dont get the same expectation of clearity HA) I would like to make clear that in no way am I implying that any one should attempt to use violence to solve the issue of health care reform. Our right to bare arms is soely for the purpose of gaurding against a hard tyranny that first raises its arms against its citizens. Though over the centuries their has been actions such as these by the numerous currupt men in office (all the presidents from lincoln on), Obama and the current people in public office have not yet warrented any physical violence and I do not advocate violent actions against the Government as a response to its actions at this time. In other words, since our government is abusing its power through legilation not (entirely) by force so we should use legislation and prostest as well. I say this all to be clear that I am not attempting to do anything that would break any of the laws that limit free speach. Though there are times that Government should be changed through revolt, this, at this moment, is absolutely not one of those times. We still have the ability to change things under the law and in a peaceful way that shows due respect the opinions of all people in this country.
